The Paleo Diet

I know there is a some stuff scattered around the forum about the benefits of the paleolithic diet, but I thought it would be a good idea if everyone who has tried it detailed how it has or hasn’t helped their overall condition in one dedicated thread.

Hertoghe always advises it but I haven’t tried it due to apathy, and probably 'cos I don’t want to accept that I have to watch what I eat to the nth degree on top of everything else.

Anyway, it would be good if paleo eaters could outline how strictly they adhere to it, a rough idea of what to eat and what to avoid, and how it has impacted, if at all, on mental, physical and sexual symptoms. Thanks.

I have been doing it for about 6 months (compliant > 70% of the time, cut out 80% of my gluten intake) and think it helps but not a cure all. Have lost 10% of my body weight while actually exercising less, have got it down to interval training once a week plus a couple days of weightlifting (interval training twice a week used to help but then leave me completely exhausted after a week or 2). Fewer fat cells = less estradiol, therefore maybe T gets forced down the 5AR pathways but has not showed much in my Adiol-G readings. Have recently added back in oats as I think it might help control SHBG. Hair loss has finally begun again, from being nonexistent in ~ 6 years post fin; I take this as a good sign.

Am almost ripped and and a tad muscular now for a guy in his 40s, so I catch the women looking now and again and realize I have no libido . . . despite clomiphene stimulated testosterone levels of 800+

Anyhow, I think its worth a try, but look at all the variants (high fat, primal, panu, etc.)
