This is a very interesting work! I may assume what it somehow restoring the neurosteroid level because both chronic stress and chronic ethanol consumption lead to decreased allopregnanolone levels. It can be something.

There’s a lot of exciting stuff coming out in a couple of years

It seems HDAC inhibitors are strong receptor-upregulators. E.g. Sodium Butyrate, a cheap and readily available one:

It would be nonsense to underestimate these effects or take into account only some pet-theories (which are supposed to have systematic effects, unless they become dubious themselves).
