Th1 vs Th2 immunity

quick excerpts,
https://academic.oup.com/jcem/article/89/12/6359/2844769
Th1 response is associated with cell-mediated immunity, e.g. elimination of cancerous cells, whereas Th2 response is credited with immune tolerance such as fetus survival during pregnancy. Therefore, finasteride could potentially be involved in alteration of immune surveillance against cancer in aging males.

Competition for Antigen between Th1 and Th2 Responses

its not the study, its the concept of antagonism.

Over time, Th1 response is lost and ineffective antibody response driven by Th2 cells becomes predominant

on a side note, here’s why you dont mix different probiotics, antagonistic relationships.
even different strains of the same species can drive immunity in different directions, fat metabolism in different directions, pro inflammatory vs anti inflammatory, also different effects in male vs female.

Bifidobacterium bifidum Actively Changes the Gene Expression Profile Induced by Lactobacillus acidophilus in Murine Dendritic Cells

We have previously shown that Lactobacillus acidophilus induces a strong production of the pro-inflammatory and Th1 polarizing cytokine IL-12 in DC, whereas bifidobacteria do not induce IL-12 but inhibit the IL-12 production induced by lactobacilli. In the present study, genome-wide microarrays were used to investigate the gene expression pattern of murine DC stimulated with Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM and Bifidobacterium bifidum Z9. L. acidophilus NCFM strongly induced expression of interferon (IFN)-β, other virus defence genes, and cytokine and chemokine genes related to the innate and the adaptive immune response. By contrast, B. bifidum Z9 up-regulated genes encoding cytokines and chemokines related to the innate immune response. Moreover, B. bifidum Z9 inhibited the expression of the Th1-promoting genes induced by L. acidophilus NCFM and had an additive effect on genes of the innate immune response and Th2 skewing genes.

You see microbes possibly capable of regulating our whole phenotype. is it that hard to imagine there could be some microbes that inhibit androgen expression or promote androgen expression?
