For me it’s like Goldilocks and the 3 bears: it has to be “just right”:
I can have penetrative sex, with a decent erection, IF:
- my total testosterone levels are not too low
- my estradiol level is neither too high nor too low (pushing it too low with an AI works against me)
- I take my levitra or viagra not too late when I want to have sex. (If I take it too close to the time of having sex, it kicks in after the encounter is over–and after I have been in the encounter with no erection)
- I have not been drinking more than 1 drink of alcohol
- I have not taken melatonin the night before
- I have not taken any ibuprofen/naproxen the same day
- I have gotten enough sleep
- I have gotten past any performance anxiety leading up to the sexual encounter
- I have not taken any other medication that can cause ED.
I find that topical testosterone is better than injectable testosterone.
I find that a higher strength (%age) of topical testosterone is better than lower %.
I find that if I take too much testosterone over time, the good effects disappear. Therefore I do not take many pumps of it per day; 1 or 2 is enough.
