I quit cold turkey 10 days ago after 1 month use. I quit becuase of strane sides, somdays extremely high libido, other days nothing, plus semen alternatively watery or coagulated and reduced volume.
1 day after cold turkey felt exhausted with sharp pain in side and nausea, had to leave work and slept 12 hours.
For next 3 days no erection whatsoever.
Now I get morning wood - though not as hard as it used to be and doesn’t last. I can get a daytime erection by masturbating, and I orgasm with very reduced volume and absolutely no sensation whatsoever.
No mental side effects I think.
My question: should I start testing now or sit it out for a while and see if things improve? How long should I wait? I live in Brazil and I´m not sure where to find a good doctor here and also don’t have much money for tests if the insurance doesn’t cover it.
I´m trying ot keep calm at the moment, working out every day and eating healthily. Is it really true that most eople recover naturally?
Thanks a lot
Since you are no longer on Finasteride, I would get tested ASAP to see what effect the drug was having on your hormones. Time is of the essence and the window of opportunity to do so is short after coming off the drug.
See this thread, Hypo posted a list of doctors in Brazil you could try:

Good luck.
Thanks for that! I am trying to arrange testing this week. MW seems to have dropped off but that may just be stress - this is horrible.
Tks very much for the support
The only thing I might worry about if you’re going to get blood tests right away, would be that 5AR activity hasn’t yet returned to where it previously was. If you quit only 10 days ago, DHT may still be returning to your system.
We also have reason to believe (anecdotally) that this swing in hormones post-quitting can cause further dysfunction, and hence the suggestion to actually “taper” off the drug, as doing so might give your body more of a chance to “readjust” to 5AR. Some users report the period right after quitting as being their “feel good” period, only to be followed later (after about a month’s time) by further dysfunction. If you were going to taper you’d want to gradually lower the dose of finasteride, and then maybe even switch to Saw Palmetto (a weaker, herbal 5AR inhibitor) for some time, and then lower the dose of that…But this is all merely speculation.
Nevertheless, getting tests won’t be uninformative. If you can spot that your hormones are out of sync early, you may be in better position to reverse any damage.
Thanks…but since I stopped 10 days ago should i re-start now every other day to taper off or just stick with the cold turkey? I’m not in a good period now - no morning or spontaneous erection, slight pain in testicles and side - then again I am extremely worried so it might just be stress
Seeing as your symptoms sound fairly serious, I would probably do exactly as Mew recommends actually. Get tested and then, if necessary, get some testosterone in your system ASAP. Any damage to your system that may have been done under conditions of low testosterone may very well be reversible if testosterone is administered early (or so research indicates, anyways).
A 24-urine test would be most informative if it is available, and would provide an accurate measure of DHT. But one way or another, yeah, I’d go through with the tests.
Are you referring to this study?? And why the change in opinion now Mew??
Boston, what on earth are you talking about??
I never heard you as an advocate for TRT right away. You must have changed your opinion, maybe after finding that study about “cell aptosis”.
You have me confused with Galapagos’ posts. Re-read the thread!
This is what I read, but ok…
See, I now think its good idea to try TRT right away upon coming off, if T is very low, because it may help tissues, prostate, and things, stay in order, and stay functioning.
Anyway, I wish I had, in hindsight, when my doc tried to give it to me a month after this started…
Peace
I´m waiting for my test results - I did all the ones recomended, and had not trouble in getting a doctor to order them (health insurance paid up with no quibbling). i did them all yesterday and have some results back already - not testosterone as yet. THe only thing that seems to be really out os sync so far is Dehydroepiandroserone sulfate - I have 747 ng/mL and reference limits are given as 800 to 5600 (!). Anyone have any idea what this might mean?
I know I should wait until I get all the results back to get a full picture - guess i’m kind of anxious.
Tks

Sounds like your adrenal glands are not putting out enough DHEA-S, which can be implicated in low androgen levels / hypopituitarism.
I’m not an adrenal expert, although if you look up Adrenal Fatigue, you will likely come across a correlation and some possible treatments…
However, I’d wait to get the results of your entire bloodwork before making any decisions.
Also, consider posting your bloodwork under a new thread in the Hormones & Blood Tests section, once you do, to make it easier to track and find in the future!
Tks Mew
Am posting the results i have hasd so far on the blood test thread
