Testing finasteride for a few months and then quitting

Hi!

I just got 18 and got my first Propecia prescription to fight hair loss. I take 1 mg a day and feel some side effects like watery sperm, libido loss and penis shrinkage. Should I be worrying about them or will they go away after I quit? I’m atm planning to use it for like 3–5 months and see what happens. Do you think I will have permanent side effects by then?
It’s just all so strange. After all, the drug’s being used all over the world to fight hair loss. If we calm down for a moment, is it really that bad and dangerous? I understand that long term usage is serious, but what can brief consumption just to delay the balding a few months do?

Thanks!

This is not a hairloss site, we do not condone Finasteride usage, this site is for guys who already quit the drug. Do not continue to post here if you plan to continue taking the drug.

The risks are simply too great, especially for a teenager to be taking androgen deprivation therapy. Nobody can guarantee your side effects will go away after quitting but by taking it for a longer period of time you certainly increase the damage you are doing to your body.

Read through the Finasteride Studies section and FAQ at top of site for more info. You are playing with fire, asking people wether you should take this medication after its already destroyed our health is almost like a cruel joke.

Look at alternative methods to control your hairloss instead of internal 5AR inhibition.

Thank you! Only 9 pills taken, now I’m quitting. I hope I will recover.
