Test with high prolactin and down FSH

I was on propecia for 3,5 years and off for more than 2. I quit because of sexual problems: erections problems and low libido. A few months after quiting a high brain fog started as well and lasted about 6 months. I am better know about this but still forget names and things that i was going to tell.

Mainly, i have ED and very low libido right now.

I got tested last year and my doctor said everything was on my mind and that cialis would work with temporary sexual ED. What a big expert that guy!

So, here are my blood tests:

Nov 2009:

T4- 1 (0,78-2,19)
TSH- 5,30 (0,46- 4,68)
LH- 2,4 (1,5-8)
FSH 2,20 (1,55-9,74)
PROL 21 (3,7-18)
TEST 9 (3,5-11)
PROG 1 (Max 0,6)

January 2010:

T3- 1,5 (1-1,7)
T4- 0,90 (0,78-2,19)
TSH- 1,80 (0,46- 4,68)
LH- 3,2 (1,5-8)
FSH 2,20 (1,55-9,74)
PROL 20 (3,7-18)
TEST 6,9 (3,5-11)
PROG 1 (Max 0,6)

Sept 2010

T3- 1,4 (1-1,7)
T4- 1 (0,78-2,19)
TSH- 3,40 (0,46- 4,68)
LH- 3,5 (1,5-8)
FSH 2,20 (1,55-9,74)
PROL 38 (3,7-18)
TEST 9 (3,5-11)
PROG 0,5 (Max 0,6)
Estradiol 17-beta 39 (Max 60)

2 weeks ago (I got tested a full panel, everything is pretty well but this:

T4L- 0,80 (0,78-2,19)
TSH- 2,40 (0,46-4,68)
LH- 6,7 (1,5-8)
FSH- 1,7 (1,5-15)
PROL- 20,5 (2,1-17)
Estradiol 17-Beta 64 (Max 60)
Testosterone 6 (3,5-11)
Free testosterone 14 (7,2-27)
Progesterone 1,1 (Max 1)
Alpha 5dht 0,46 (0,3-1)
cortisone 1,28 (max 2)

Overall, i would say my testo is more or less all right but my FSH very low seeing those numbers. Obviously my PROL and PROG levels have keept up for a long period even though the doctor say it is nothing to be worried about (?) as i got test with an eco for tiroyd prolactinoma and nothing in there.

A member of this forum told me to try dostinex and i am very down with him but i am worried about my FSH poor level too.

Do you think that dostinex may help with my sexual probs and this stuff? How long should i take it? Any other meds to take based on my tests?

Any comments? Thanks

Your blood tests are very similar to mine when comparing fsh, prolactin and tsh…
Your high TSH would also suggest that your hypothalamus is secreting lots of TRH to tell the pituitary to make TSH. High levels of TRH, unfortunately, raise prolactin and may explain your high level. Im going to see a real good thyroid doctor on November 24… keep you posted on my treatment and such…

Yep, please let me know about ur doc´s recommendations…

I saw my doctor last week and i basically convinced her to prescribe dostinex. She said that i should take it for about a month and that would be enough to bring my prolactine down.

The thing is that i have read some comments on valve problems due to the use of this drug, so i am a bit scared of using it.

I got my dick pretty screwed because i took the wrong med so i don´t wanna get my heart screwed trying to fix it. I would also like to hear of someone who used dostinex for these reasons and posts his experience.

I am doing better mentally. It is funny but as you can see i brought dowm my prolactine level from 38 to 20 naturally, and im feeling better mentally, no restored though…

Sexually it is the same crap. I have girlfriend now and i never want to have sex. When we have it, sometimes i totally lose my erection so this is something that make me totally upset. I get more upset when i see a doctor and apparently everything is fine with my body. The only “problem” may be prolactine level, but in my doctor´s opinion this level is not high enough to lead to such a problems… In other words, they believe this is all mental…

Do you think that is i get down my prolactine i will have “normal” sexual erections and sensations? I know this is a stupid quiestion but i feel very stupid about all this crap…

If you get your prolactin down your libido could improve a lot. According to your recent blood tests your tsh isn’t high… just on your first test it was… perhaps u were just nervous or something.

yep, you are probably right. My doctor said that somethimes the calculations are not very exact as they use eco-technics (you know, non-contaminating methods). I am not very worried about TSH but FSH. Don´t you think this value is extremely low? I don´t know what it can lead to me… I am bit lost, actually…

On the other hand, i had pretty good sex tonight but still some ED so i really want to know if dostinex would help me out with erections as i have read it is more for libido. How the hell can i get my sensations back about erections? that is what i am asking, perhaps the key question though…

One thing i can tell, i am not the same sexual person at all and i am still 28. I used to have sex with girls (one stand night) and sometimes ok sometimes bad but i blame alcohol or context for my bad sex. Í´ve been on a relationship for 3 months and i “need” to have sex 2 or 3 times a week so then i noticed i didn´t want it and kind of couldn´t either.

I have discard any other probs as my blood test for colesterol and this stuff is ok. I do sport and have a very strict diet so this cannot come from any other thing that finasteride and change of my hormone system.

Thank you anyway for your comments on my panel and please let me know about your new thoughts and prospect info from your new doctor.

Pretty much everyone here has rock bottom fsh, its pretty standard post fin stuff.

So how can i bring it up? I have read that dostinex can help also increasing Testo but i don´t know about FSH…

My doctor said my Testo is ok, you can see the figures so a treatment to replace testo has not been considered…

Any other ideas based on my blood test? cheers

What do you think about my extradiol number? it is over the line as well as an estrogen has got much to do with ed and low libido right? I am trying to figure out some solutions as here in andalusien doctors are ancient and close-minded. I´d better had things to tell my doctor about if i wanna have an useful treatment…

Any thoughts?

mine and reefs are by far the lowest ive ever seen here…

but like him, I can have decent 50% of the time… which is encouraging… Perhaps cabergoline to lower your prolactin.

hypothyroidism can cause this by screwing with you gnrh production which is responsible for fsh levels throuugh the pituitary

Yep, this is weird though as the values change a lot. But i agree that one is very slow.

On the other hand my estrogens are over the range as well: 0,64 (max 60). As i said i will get some caber to tacke the bloody prolactine but i am concerned about how to restore the other values. As my doctors don´t believe i am screwed sexually and partially mentally i am trying to get as much info as possible if i had to take auto-medication (which is the most likely seeing i have been having awful sex for almost 2 years and doctos don´t help me).

I do not see other side effects but bit anxiety and lack of memory sometimes (mainly names and data). Do you know any solutuion for this? cheers.

Estrogen dominance inhibits Thyroid action. Your t3 is high. Your Testosterone is good and on the high side, 9 (5-11). Take care of the high Prolactin and see how you your libido/sexual function improves. Compare your thyroid numbers here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3866. You can take Arimidex to lower estrogen.

Ok, i wrote down ur meds and comments…

I read in a topic that there is some natural herb or pills that may get prolactine down as well. Im considering have a goal with natural stuff to bring it down as i have no good experiences with meds (you know what i mean lol).

I have got a very important job interview on tuesday so i haven´t taken dostinex yet but i will be taking something to tackle prolactine level next week for sure.

As i told you i have gone through shity sex for about 2 years and doctos have done nothing. I moved to england for 18 months or so and i had not too much sex so i don´t realised i had a problem. When you fuck a night every 3 months you blame for bad sex to alcohol, tiredness… But i am back in spain now, have a steady relationship and this doesn´t work out. It´s been a while to consider this is not mental issue.

Talking about arimidex, don´t you think it is pretty weird that my estradiol was 39 in sept and 64 in oct? Im totally lost about this but doctors in spains look it too.

Do i think its weird? NO, nothing surprises me about what this drug has done…

Fair enough

I went to see my urologist last week and luckily this guy will help in somehow. He´s a very serious doctor who didn´t want to say anything about what propecia could have done on me but agreeded that my hormone panel was weird for a 28 year-old guy and after trying to provoke an erection on me by massaging my nerves around my penis and almost wanking (this sounds funny but it was pretty similar to a wank lol) he got no response so he is considering something is wrong with me…

Anyway. he told me i had to be tested again for prolactinome (i got tested 1 year ago and no probs with my thiroyd) to see if there is something which is increasing my prolactine level. I believe this is another waste of time as i see no improvement and getting tested over and over again is taking me noway, but i guess this is necessary for me to be considered as a patient with a real problem by some doctors.

I have taken neither dostinex nor arimidex yet as i will be tested again in 10 days for this stuff and this could change my hormone panel obviously. This is driving me crazy because doctors say prolactine level is not that high and that testo things are not so down either.

Let me know when you have any new info about that doctor you told me please.

Consider being tested for gluten intolerance if you havent been already as 25% of me with this have high prolactin, i have a study on here somewhere about it.
Most likely its caused from some unknown mechinasim via :smiling_imp: (fin) but nice to rule the simple stuff out first.

Thanks on your comments tim

I have been eaten all my life products with gluten and no problem reported. In fact, it would be a very hugh coincidence if i everybode here with high prolactine level was alergic to this. The urologist told me to check for thyroid problem again but i read people with prolactinoms have their prolactine level over 100 and mine is between 20 to 40 depends when i got checked.

I have been reading as well about arimidex to treat estradiol and it is said it would work like propecia in somehow (converting a different hormone or so, im not an expert) that is why i am scared also of beginning this treatment. I will have to take pills by my own more likely as doctors in andalusien are… how to say, not totally cultivated on this matter. They send me to get checkt but all of them have different opinions and no treatment as my levels are not so bad… funny them, not so bad for what? when i have to sleep with my gf is a work rather than a plesure so… and sometimes i cannot even finish the work… i might be fired soon if i cannot fix this

dont see why you dont try cabergoline and then proviron or arimidex mate. Cabergoline first to get the prolactin down, then go after the E levels.

FSH should recover naturally.

Im in a similar boat to you and will be trying something similar.

Mate i havent tried dostinex as my hormonal panel oscillates a lot and my family-doctor has no idea what way to take. I thank you for giving some advice but i want to go through more tests before starting any treament. :stuck_out_tongue:

On the other hand, i have had an appointment with that expert endo here in Spain. She was very thoughtfull and also cultivated about hormonal and sexual disorders. She said she had not seen a case like mine before but also agreeded that something was wrong with some of my levels and that propecia may have played an important role on it. Anyhow, she wantĹ› me to get tested my hypophysis to see there are no tumors producing high levels of PRL.

Apart from that, I will get tested again to check my hormonal balance before any treatment by a specialist. This is promising as she was conviced this stuff is curable. She also pointed out that even though i had no sexual probs before propecia, taking the drug may have triggered any preexisting condition in my body referred to sexual dysfuction. Serotonine will also get tested since she saw me a bit depressed (who woulndt?)

Off the record. She told me Cialis was not a solution for me at all as can help with erection but as i dont feel sex like i used to, it is pointless to take. Good erection but no sensation could lead me to be even more depressed (i totally agreeded).
