Test results, more to come

The first test I had done by a uro who told me nothing was wrong and not to worry about it. The second tests were done by the endo I am seeing now.

I had the following tests done today which were recommended by an alternative medicine doctor that I have been speaking with. He believes it is an auto immunal issue.

-Antibodies to the testicles
-Progesterone
-High sensitivity CPR
-Blood Insulin

2/10/09
Testosterone: 385 ng/dl range 200-1000

6/4/09

LH 1.1mIU/ml range 1.7-8.6
Prolactin: 4.2ng/ml range 4-15
Cortisol: 18.ug/dl range 2-20
Testosterone: 108ng/dl range 290-800

In addition, I had the following tests done today which were recommended by an alternative medicine doctor that I have been speaking with. He believes my problem is an auto immunal issue.

-Antibodies to the testicles
-Progesterone

-Blood Insulin

What time were these tests done?

If in the AM, on 2 seperate dates the results show you are clearly at hypogonadal levels of Testosterone. With out of range low LH, it likely points to Secondary Hypogonadism (pituitary dysfunction, not sending enough LH to testes to make T). The low serum DHT levels are also a problem.

What did your docs say about the above? You might want to consider jumpstarting your T production via Clomid, hCG or Tamox. Crisler or Shippen would be good for this.

All my tests were done in the early evening. My doc diagnosed me with severe secondary hypo. His only explanation for what could be causing this was heroin (which I have never done). He is a very well respected endo who has written books on male andropause and testosterone. Regardless, he has no clue whats going on. At first he dismissed the Propecia but after he saw my test results its seemed like he might be considering it. Mew can you recommend a good study to show him? I am lost with all of this…

I am almost three weeks in on Clomid. Still waiting to have my testosterone checked since I started it but I dont yet feel much improvements. What do you think about the tests that the alternative med doctor ordered?

Not good. You need to do them before 10am when T levels are highest to get an accurate representation. Can’t believe your endo suggested doing them in the evening, since you’ll never know your true maximum levels before starting treatment. Oh well.

Show him the Youtube videos:

Review the Finasteride Studies section. There are plenty of materials for you to print out and bring with.

What dosage and schedule did he prescribe? Unfortunate you aren’t feeling any improvements but there could be other hormonal factors which had yet to be tested for contributing to the problem… ie elevated Prolactin, Progesterone, TSH etc.

Any testing is good. See what comes of it.

Actually it was like 3pm. Still late I know.

I’m on 50mg every other day. The only thing I’ve noticed is that my mood has been better. But thats about it and sexual issues havent got much better.

An alternative med doctor that I’ve been seeing sent me two tests. A Adrenal Stress Index saliva test, and at G.I. Health Panel test which requires stool samples. Awesome.

Has anyone else done either of these tests. I havent heard much about the GI panel test…

i think the stool panel test looks for parasites?
it probably wont find anything

More results I got back today…Any thoughts?

According to:

findacode.com/icd-9/257-2-de … -code.html

… an ICD-9 code of 257.2 means:

What did your docs say, if you have been given such a diagnosis? What is their recommendation?

It looks like your Total Testosterone has gone up. Were the above tests done while you were taking clomid?

.

“What did your docs say, if you have been given such a diagnosis? What is their recommendation?”

I havent spoken with my endo regarding these tests. I will ask him when I see him at the end of the month.

“It looks like your Total Testosterone has gone up. Were the above tests done while you were taking clomid?”

Yes I am about 3 weeks in on Clomid. I feel some improvements but not as much as I would like.

“I ve done the adrenal stress index test. It is really useful and cheap you should do it to check your stress status, but if your mood is good and you are sleeping well doubt that you have adrenal issues.”

Just sending mine in today. My mood and sleep are awful so we’ll see.

“In retrospect, what did that test regarding testicular antibodies reveal?? Did you do it after all?? Always been thinking about possibility of antibodies attacking my testicles and they keep decreasing in size, but wouldnt i have some sort of swelling or inflammation of some sort??”

My endo wouldnt order these because they were prescibed by a different an alternative med doc. I’m going to have to pull some strings to have them done at another lab.

***P.S. I can’t figure out how to use the quote function. Sorry about that. Any help is appreciated.
