Targeting Dopamine

It’s been a while since I posted but the next step for me I think is getting my dopamine levels up. A few months ago I did a neurotransmitter questionare with a naturapath and came back low on just about every neurotransmitter. The worst ones being Phenylethylamine and Dompamine.

Also I a few years ago, I did a urinary amino acid profile and it also came back low on just about all amino acids. I took one course of a compounded amino acid mixture and never went back.

I am now trying to track down the results of that amino acid profile to see if I am low on Tyrosine. If I can’t track it down, I will repeat the amino acid test.

In the mean time, I’m 3 days into taking 6g of Tryosine per day and 500g of Phenylethylamine. Also I’m taking a vitamin B complex twice a day with a total of 50mg of Vitamin B per day to help kick the conversion of amino acids to Dopamine. But if I need to repeat the Urinary Amino Acid Profile, (I may repeat it anyway) I will need to be off the Tyrosine for 3 weeks prior to the test.

Does anyone know how long it should take Tyrosine to convert to Dopamine? Recovering Meth users say it takes months to gain back lost dopamine when using Tyrosine. 3 days into it and I don’t feel any different. This tells me that I must be really low because even if I had normal dopamine levels, that Tyrosine should be really kicking in. I’m hoping I’m just low anyway!

The only other problems I have at the moment is I am having trouble getting my low DHEA up. I’ve tried transderamals, and now lozenges. I will retest it next week to see if it’s worked. If not, I may have to try capsules.

Also I’m still having some trouble balncing estrogen via morning erections. I’m still swinging too high or too low. At the minute I’m not sure if I’m high or low.

I took tyrosine along with Boston2009, check with him. For me it responded within a day of taking the pills. Within a week I had the bounce back effect and felt worse than before I took them. Are you suggesting that it you take them for a long period of time the downturn will turn positive again?

J89,

Yes Martin is right. I took that for a while. I felt positive effects from it immediately, however they weened down over time. With the majority of these supplements you need to rotate them and not simply take the same thing every day, otherwise it will lose it’s effectiveness. It may offer you some relief, I unfortunately don’t believe this will be a savior for you.

I’m not saying this will be a single magic bullet, there’s obviously a few things going on with me, the biggest one, being estrogen dominance. But if Dopamine is low, I want to correct it anyway.

I plan on cycling the Tyrosine. A few days on a few days off. I’m just not sure of how to go about cycling it.

Is there a particular way you should cycle supplements? Does anyone know of any info on the net about this subject?

On a positive note I woke up with a cracker of a morning wood this morning after upping my arimidex dose a little.

Hey mate, good to see you back(if it can be good being here)

I started taking 3g of taurine about 5 days ago and i get nothing from it. I seem to be one of the unlucky bastards who gets nothing from just about everything.
Made any progress with any other treatments in your absence?

I’ve had some modest improvements with Theanine, an amino acid. It is known to increase dompamine. I sleep better on it, and it seems to increase my mood. It is found in supplement and green tea:

I’m taking 100 mg a couple times a week. I’ve read on some body builder forums that some guys dose up to a gram a day and get a good libido boost, but I haven’t tried that. Following site is one example:

TIm, remember the high you were getting off zinc? That could have been from dopamine or related to dopamine. Maybe you took it too far with the zinc treatment and now your body won’t respond to tyrosine. I bet if you wait 6 months and try again you’ll get a reaction from tyrosine.

Possibly martin, i will try in a few months. Lately i have started taking zinc again and have had a positive reaction, only take every 2-3 days but always have a wood in the morning and am in a better mood.

I really like what green tea does to me, and im guessing it is because of the theanine, i was always under the impression that it was increasing GABA rather than dopamine because it (green tea) kills my anxiety and depression.

green tea has caffeine which is a stimulant which temporarily increases dopamine.
