Taking propecia (Proscar, broken into 4 pieces), no bad side-effects

I have been taking Finasteride for the past year and 2 months, roughly. I have had no bad side-effects. Sperm is normal, sexual arousal is normal, no erectile disfunction, no penile shrinkage, no depression…I feel absolutely fine…

What does that mean?

It means you have no use for this forum since you are not suffering from irreversible side effects from the drug which continued after quitting.

Please read the disclaimer at top of site, and:

If you are taking Finasteride, please visit hairloss sites. Thanks.

I think as someone who uses the drug I can check out possible side-effects that some people complain about.

The question wasn’t meant in a derogatory way, it was purely for info. I am curious as to whether or not the side-effects/results of use that people discuss here are restricted to them. Can the drug have side-effects with some people, and not with others?

It is curious that a group of men compain about life-changing effects for a drug that is widely used and others don’t…

Sure, you can read as much as you like.

But nobody here is interested in discussions with people who willingly choose to ingest this drug, after what it did to our health and function, the studies posted here, the videos and info etc in the post I originally provided to you.

Of course the drug can have certain side effects in some people and not others – ANY medication can. Individual response to a drug’s effects is half the problem, you can’t necessarily predict the outcome regarding usage. If we could have, then we wouldn’t have touched it.

Reasons Finasteride has different effects in different people are likely mediated at the androgen receptor and genetic level (in addition to each individual’s hormonal makeup):

"Thus, future trials such as the PCPT and treatment protocols using 5-reductase inhibitors should consider genotyping men for SRD5A2 variants. In fact, we note that the pharmacogenetic inhibition increases for finasteride with time (Table 1) while it decreases for dutasteride (Table 2).

This may suggest that dutasteride has a ‘tighter’ range for allelic and somatic variants, which may lessen the still considerable impact of pharmacogenetic variation in vitro. Thus, this compound may be generally better tolerated in vivo as well. "

“However, the pharmacogenetic variation we uncovered for both finasteride and dutasteride is still very significant and this should be taken into account when designing protocols for treatment and/or chemoprevention of prostatic diseases with either one of these drugs
