Some side effects after 12 years of proscar, could use some advice.

So I took proscar for 12 years thinking it was totally safe because I did not notice any side effects. After finding this site I realized that I had become sick with a rare auto immune disease 1 year after starting proscar. I stopped taking proscar in December of 2010. I was hoping this would cure my auto immune problem which did not happen I still have it. I do feel stronger overall however. My main problem is that after about 4 months my penis started acting strange. When it is flaccid it is smaller and it kind of has a dull hurt. The really bad part is if I am playing ice hockey with a cup on or working out or wear tight underwear my penis starts to turtle. It goes inside me and I have to pull it back out when it is at its worse and feels numb. I still can get erections and have sex normally in fact my erect penis is still the same size just under 6 inches.

Is there anything I can do to help this problem? I was even thinking about going back on the proscar because now I am losing my hair badly and I never had any problems with my penis while I was on the proscar. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Get bloodwork per FAQ:

Its the only way to see what is going on hormonally, especially in respect to Testosterone production.

I would advise not to get back on the drug. If you do, pls post on hair loss sites as this is not a forum for Finasteride-using men. We have far greater things to do deal with after what the drug did to us, than worry about hair loss.

who did you diagnose it?

I am currently having a theory that maybe we all who took 5ARIs have got some kind of auto immune disease.

The turtling penis/extreme shrinkage is very unpleasant. L-arganine can help but be cautious and use small doses and scale up and try not to use it constantly so you don’t become tolerant.

I did the bloodwork (what they would do) and the doctor says it is fine. He basically laughs me off and will not take me seriously. I have an autoimmune disease that I think was caused by proscar. I would love to try to cure myself

You are nuts if you’re thinking of going back on that poison. Spend an afternoon reading the stories in the members section. The damage this drug can do extends to almost all functions of the body. It effects dozens of different organs. How much damage do you think your liver and kidneys can take?

I’m willing to bet you have sides from it, that you would have never attributed to the drug. I know because, I connected some of mine once I took the time to read some of these stories. Are your eyes a little sensitive to the wind? Have any pains in your stomach? Having sleeping problems? Do your joints pop? I could go on and on.
