Social isolation and Allopregnanolone ; Degeneration of PFS

Hi everyone,

Read a bunch of studies and they seem to indicate that social isolation is a way to reduce Allopregnanolone levels.
You can see this one: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article … figure/F1/

I have always experienced that I feel normal when I’m with my best friends, and much better with people in general.
Last year I lived alone, it was the worst … I ended up flatsharing again and instantly felt better.

When I slept with someone next to me I slept more soundly too.

In a social context I feel mostly normal…when I’m alone i really have some problems. But in general I have always felt this way, I think even before Finasteride…

So, in regards:

  • Do you feel your condition is improved in a social context?

Also:

  • Have you felt your symptoms getting worse over the years or are they just stable?

Thanks for the help…I’m trying to figure out where my insomnia is coming from.

And from that image, the broken link by finasteride or social isolation is not in allopregnanolone but in 5α-dihydroprogesterone…can we somehow increase that? or the 5ar itself?

Yes and no to the first question. I usually feel pretty crappy so generally don’t feel too sociable. But that being said after I get into a non stressful social situation I usually feel better afterwards.

To the second question when I quit fin I started a downhill slide that lasted years. The first couple years were mostly ED, but over time came all the other classic fin symptoms, ear problems, eye problems, tons of brain fog, insomnia, neuropathy, anxiety, etc. Sometimes I feel stable but have frequent relapses with brain fog. I only take a few supplements any more, mostly stuff recommended on the CFS theory thread. Sometimes they seem to help. I definitely think the CFS theory holds true for insomnia like issues.

great to have your answer, thanks a lot!
My psychologist thinks I have Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder and want me to correct it with bright light and sleep restriction…
it worked last time, but eventually the problem came back.
that was years ago, now I just wake up at 6am, adfter 5 - 6 hours sleep and can’t fall back asleep. I think she is wrong in the sense that slepe phase disorders should actually just shift A NORMAL sleep up or down…not break it in two. I sleep 5 to 6 hours then I can’t for asleep for 2 hours then again I sleep 3 more hours or so…As you can imagine and prob even know, this is not compatible with blo*dy society!

Could you link me to the CFS thread and which sups are you taking (time of the day, brand, compound and amount) please:)

Bad Luck, what cfs supplements do you think helped with your insomnia?
