Sleep/Adrenal Support - Supplements Question

I’ve recently been issued the following three supplements to address my insomnia/adrenal health. Does anyone have any experience with these or any of the ingredients? It’s only been a few days, but I feel very lethargic during the day (a little better today than yesterday), but have not resolved any sleep issues. Thanks.

Provides amino acids and cofactors required for GABA production. •Provides phytonutrients that exhibit/support GABAergenic activity. •Provides phytonutrients that have shown to inhibit GABA catabolism. To help support healthy GABA levels as it relates to nutritional balance.

Seriphos:
Proprietary blend (1000mg) of:
—Phosphorylated Serine/Ethanolamine

Adrenatone
Only Ashwaghanda in that mix has the potential for sedation. I think it contains GABAergic substances (look it up). I personally take it only at night.
The others ingredients should be rather on the energizing sides of things (esp. N-A-tyr)

Gabatone
All the ingredients of this mix have the obvious goal of relaxation and/or sedation. Do you take these during the day? I wouldnt. The ingredients are mostly “relaxing” but Valerian is clearly “sedating”.

Seriphos
Phisphatidylserine phytosome, its a cortisol modulator, should be better taken at night also.

Thanks. I take them throughout the day with meals in the doses described above. I think/hope that they are adaptogenic…I will monitor how I feel over the next couple of weeks and then consider taking them in a reduced dose or perhaps at nighttime.

Some concerns:

The first one appears to have more of a stimulant effect as it contains ginseng and licorice root. It also contains tyrosine, which may or may not be beneficial, at least a couple people here had a honeymoon effect then it stopped working or caused negative reactions though I believe the doses were higher.

The second one contains valerian root and lithium indicating a calming effect. Valerian root has some similarities to Valium and acts on the same receptor as benzos.

Licorice will lower your testosterone

Thanks for the feedback guys.

All of those with sleep issues should read The Effortless Sleep Method. I really wish I had found this earlier in my suffering: amazon.co.uk/The-Effortless- … B004UC4ZNM

You would not believe what probably most of us (including me) were/are doing wrong to make sleep so bad. I hope this helps many of you suffering terrible sleep, i’ve certainly been there.

Will this help with the type of sleep problems that many of us have? I don’t have insomnia, I just wake constantly throughout the night.

Joe, for your info all sleep issues are classed insomnia, but yes this method tackles sleep maintenance insomnia as well as sleep onset insomnia. You’ll have to trust me that this isn’t about making your bedroom all cosy at night, nor putting a hot water bottle in your bed, it’s about a fundamental shift in the way you think and act about sleep. Taking pills is not a way to get your sleep back to how it was before. Now I am finally sleeping better, i have some pretty big plans for recovery, but i do realise PFS is a beast. I can only liken PFS to being attached to a very tight elastic band that simply will not break. You can stretch it so far, in my case as far as recovery, but it won’t snap and gradually tightens up again. I have definitely weakend PFS though; GHB, GABApentin, The Effortless Sleep Method have all helped and continue to help considerably.

glutamine has helped my sleep tremendously also. also, watch waht you guys eat if you have sleep problems. a few months ago if i ate literally ANYTHING that wasn’t straight from nature, i would have sleep problems and wake up on the dot at the same times throughout the night and also I was forced to walk everyday for 1-2 hours or else I would wake up multiple times per night. if you guys have serious sleep issues, i would start doing those 3 things. not sure what propecia did… but it definitely screwed something up with me and was the cause of this…

Interesting… i guess prescription sleep med is not the way to go. I was hoping if i fixed my sleep issue w medication id feel better during the day. But i guess that would be the wrong path. Ill try natural stuff first at least.

I think the problem w me is relaxation. Melatonin makes me restless all night. Same w antihistamine meds. Though i do sleep better on benadryl, its not ideal. I wake up restless as well. Maybe ill try going to gnc again today. I need sleep this last year in college.

Over the last year my sleep improved a lot. I could sleep up to 8 hours a night but not without waking up 3 or 4 times a night. Since 2 weeks I am doing steam baths every night before going to bed for 12-15 minutes. Since then I only wake up one time a night. So I really recommend doing steam baths.

I also have a little ritual: Same as the the steam bath idea I read about the soft belly breathing in the book Ultramind Solution. This is what I am doing right before sleeping:

  1. Put your hand on your belly and allow your abdomen to relax.
  2. Close your eyes or soften your focus, looking at the floor a few feet in front of you.
  3. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
  4. Breath deeply into your abdomen and feel it expand as you count to 5.
  5. Pause for a count of 1.
  6. Exhale slowly to a count of 5, allowing your body to relax and release tension.
  7. Repeat for 5 breaths or until you feel relaxed.

Third thing I do is a lil bed yoga routine - you can find videos on youtube. I do it after the steam bath but before the soft belly breathing.

Yea man a good book i have for sleep has some good relaxation methods, as well as more common sense tips. But it all helps
