Should I go back on fin temporally ?

I have been off Finasteride for about 5 months now, since I came off fin I have suffered from frequent urination. I believe my prostate did not go back to its original size. I’m thinking that if I go back on fin them come off it slowly it might fix my prostate problem.

Has anyone else tried going back on the drug and coming off it slowly ?

Yes a few have tried and all ended up worse off in the end. Not recommended whatsoever. If you decide to take drug again, do not complain if you get further side effects. It would also be best to post elsewhere if you plan to stay on it.

Thanks for the reply.

Do you know if there is any way of getting my prostate to go back to its original size ?

Don’t take Fin. It’s designed to shrink the prostate.

Seperately, androgens (T/DHT) have been shown to help aid with prostate growth. Over time however, hopefully you will find your issues abate.

Mew, I definitely understand your argument. But just a few things to think about. A few members actually reported feeling better going back on, however quit the drug in order to find a natural remedy. I also wonder what continuing the drug would do at the regular dosage and these are my reasons why: (1) for many people, the side effects did not appear until the drug was either irratically taken in dosage or completely stopped. Almost every doctor has said the same thing to me, which is that perhaps our bodies have built some dependence on the drug. These doctors have asked me if I have considered going back on it. (2) The studies confirm that Finasteride actually raised testosterone levels by inhibiting the conversion to DHT, so perhaps its possible we are somehow affected by the smallest change in testosterone levels (perhaps we all had low test/dht to being with) (3) the studies of finasteride indicted that sexual side effects appeared but that they resolved within 3 months of usage. If I am correct, Merck recommended staying on the drug even through these adverse side effects. I am not 100% sure, but didnt all the test subjects continue the 3 months even with the sexual sides? I dont believe they stopped taking the drug. Again, just things to think about. Do we know any members who had severe side effects and didnt immediately discontinue the drug? It seems like most people stopped upon seeing these horrific side effects which is completely understandable.

I hated the feelings it gave me. Like my body was telling me to not take it. Brainfog etc. I dont think i could have stayed on it even if i wanted to.

I completely understand, but you have to wonder what would happen if you did remain on it even with all of the horrific sides.

I was wondering too. Maybe try to start slowly and eventually taper off. See if the body crashes once again. I definately wouldnt do it but if someone else has the guts id be interested in the result.

Here is something else I noticed and is facinating to me, and if others are reading please add your input. The times that I have felt my absolute best, followed times that I have felt my absolute worst. From near impotence/impotence one day to the next day getting random erections and increased sensitivity. The rebound effect demonstrates something important.

i know someone did report a 7 day recovery after taking it again followed by even worse symptoms. i have considered it, especially bc i still have a ton of pills sitting there. id give anything to be my old self even for a day.

Yeah, it does appear people quit almost cold turkey upon realization of the horrific effects. I myself sort of gradually got lazy with the dosages and thats when my problems began. When I quit cold turkey, everything crashed and I did not want to retake either.

Hej Finatruth

I was on Propecia for 13 years with no side effects only benefits.

Now been off for over a year with a lot horrific side effects and crashes.

3 Doctors ( 1 Endo.) Have asked me if I have considerede going back on it.

Because;;;

Maybe my bodie over 13 years have built some dependence on the drug???

But I don`t have the guts to try, affraid I will get even worse symptoms???

I took the drug irratically and when I found out it was dangerous I stopped straight away. It might have been better for me if I came off the drug slowly.

After Ive tried everything I may consider doing that. But I’d like to know if it has helped anyone.

Can you recommend any supplements I can take to make the prostate grow ?

Going back on the drug to attempt to recover, or tapering off in the first place, doesn’t make any sense. Once finasteride binds to the enzymes, they become defect, and the body has to replace them with new ones. The defect enzymes should have a half-life of around 1 month in body temperature. I believe that our enzymes haven’t been replaced as they should.
