What’s up with androstenedione? Everyone seems to have it low :/.

I believe your growth hormone is low

shaamus,

Your FSH is low, which is very common with us post fin guys. The other concern I see is your Insulin like Growth factor is low. Almost every guy that I have seen blood work tested for on this website has had low IGF-1 & IGF-3.

Like most of us men, your Pituitary hormones are out of wack. I would get an MRI done on your Pituitary to be sure there is no tumor on Pituitary gland.

You can opt to have an Arginine stimulation test done or an insulin tolerance test done. Either of these are used to verify GH deficiency. The unfortunate thing is your right on the cusp with your IGF1 & IGF3 numbers. You might be borderline GH deficient.

If possible try to find an endo doctor that is very knowledgable with Pituitary problems.

Functions
The pituitary hormones help control some of the following body processes:

Growth
Blood pressure
Some aspects of pregnancy and childbirth including stimulation of uterine contractions during childbirth
Breast milk production
Sex organ functions in both men and women
Thyroid gland function
The conversion of food into energy (metabolism)
Water and osmolarity regulation in the body
Secretes ADH (antidiuretic hormone) to control the absorption of water into the kidneys
Temperature regulation

Why is low FSH considered good for fertility? That’s what the doctors keep telling me.
