Settlement in Canadian Fosamax Lawsuit

Merck to pay out C$6.375 million to Canadians who took Fosamax. For those unaware, Fosamax is believed to increase the risk of developing atypical femur fractures and osteonecrosis of the jaw – which is also known as “jawbone death.”

This continues Merck’s recent pattern of settling lawsuits (NuvaRing, US Fosamax, etc.), a move that is in striking contrast to the legal wars they waged against Vioxx victims years ago.

Good to know. Even if $6 million isn’t that much money, it’s nice to see that glaring admission of guilt on Merck’s part – even though they ALWAYS admit to no wrongdoing.

Here’s so seeing Merck bankrupt some day soon – and all its employees flipping burgers at McDonald’s. (Hey, at least THAT is honest work where no one is maimed or killed from side effects.)
