Hello guys,

Well Im considering taking propecia but im kidna freaked out as I read all your posts here, therefore im askin you all if any one knows that is there any test or blood test to do to make sure that these timeless side effects wont affect me as you know some men have been taking propeica for a very lon time with no such side effecst so if anyone knows please help…!

Thanks a lot

and good luck everybody

This forum is for men who took Finasteride and have side effects that have not resolved since quitting. Please read the FAQ at the top of the forum, it doesn’t look like you realize this.

There is no such thing as a blood test to know who will gets side effects and who wont, otherwise we all would have taken one and could have avoided this mess!!! Its just an unknown risk you have to take if you are considering using it, you are basically playing russian roulette with a loaded gun.

SO, we do NOT recommend you take this drug, it is simply too dangerous since it is unpredictable as to who gets side effects, and if you will recover from them if you do.

well yea man, but I was just hoping that you could help.

I mean its logical that after you quit the finasteride and the side effects didnt go your doctor could have an explantation, I mean there must has been something made these effects stay and your doctor could have a guess that was wut im looking for.

You want to know the answer to meaning of life, mate !
Shave your head and DON’T take the stuff.

No, most docs have been no help.

They prescribe it in the first place, then when you get side effects you are told they are all in your head, even after you quit.

Then they don’t want to bother to try and figure it out, because they don’t believe you.

Trust us, this is a common scenario for Fin users. It seems nobody in the medical community REALLY knows what Finasteride does, probably only Merck (even then I’m not sure if they do).

We do know it affects the HypoThalamus-Pituitary Axis and thus hormones and neurotransmitters, as well as liver, thyroid and likely other systems in the body. The human endocrine system is intimately intertwined and is an extremely complex system regulated by feedback loops and other factors.

For most of us, some of our effects seem similar to bodybuilders that went on roids for too long and have found their HPTA shutdown on them, thus a drop in Testosterone, LH, FSH, etc… Fin also increased Estradiol due to aromatization of T to E. Others have different problems. The issue is that nobody knows for sure how or why this drug screws some guys up, only that it does.

Take our advice and do not touch this shit, it is a death sentence to your quality of life if you get the sides and if they do not resolve after quitting.

That is the last bit of advice I can give you.

Well Thank yoo so much mew for trying to help and I will take your advice, but Im really still of confusion…how could the FDA give their approve to such a destructive medicine!!! Anyway Thank you again and check your PM inbox

Best.

How could the FDA give their approval on this drug? That’s what all of us would like to know. Beats me, I just wished they never did.

What about Merck’s Vioxx being pulled after being on the market, due to people dying from heart failure? That was also FDA approved.

Just because something is FDA approved doesn’t necessarily mean that what its designed to do to your body is SAFE.

Case in point - reducing DHT, wether that be through Finasteride or other natural supplements and drugs.

Hey everyone… I’ve been on fin for a few years now… Just wondering if anyone has experienced any kind of muscle or (gout-like) joint pain while taking this shit??

It’s possible. People have experienced a variety of symptoms, it affects everyone differently.

Lower back pain has been reported by more than a few users, as have stomach pains. I wouldn’t doubt that joint pain would be out of the realm of possibilities.

If you are having problems you should quit the drug by weening off slowly over the next few months. Good luck.

I am off it now, only a few days ago. I have been off it before for a few years and gone back on…Main side effect I always felt was maybe decreased libido, but also kind of numb. Not in the physical sense but emotionally, maybe hormones??? But this idea of brain fog, well it got me thinking and analyzing myself while I was on the drug, and I can’t seem to remember if I had a better memory before this stuff or not. It seems now that my memory is pretty bad and I am only 27. Retaining information is a little bit of a problem sometimes, even on a good day. Is this what you guys mean by “brain fog”??? That, and feeling less motivated maybe? I don’t have a h istory of depression, even though like anyone else I do have my bad days and I do feel pretty down. I have to say that while on this drug I feel like it’s harder to concentrate and stay interested in any one thing I am doing. I get restless and anxious some times. I was never like this before…

Yes all those symptoms you describe are part of the "brain fog’… similar to yourself I also had forgetfullness, couldnt concentrate, stumbled over words… also had slurring of speech and felt like a passive shell, always tired etc… check the FAQ at the top of this forum for more descriptions.

I also highly recommend you check the “Finasteride Studies” section, there are studies on Fin being relaetd to causing depression and anxiety.

The anxiety in particular is due to depletion of Allopregnanolone and interference with GABA receptors, because Finasteride inhibits Progesterone --> Allopregnanolone conversion just as it does T --> DHT conversion via 5ARII.

Allopregnanolone is an anti-convulsive and anti-anxiety neurosteroid, and when you deplete it you are more prone to getting seizures (read the studies).

Research as much as you can… needless to say messing with your body like this is not a good idea, as we all found out.
