Like most people with MPB I wanted a treatment plan that was FDA approved and actually worked to help with hair loss. Ever since I was a teen I had a full thick head of hair, people, friends and family said I was lucky to have such hair. MPB runs heavily in my family. Now that I am older I discovered my hair thinning and balding on the top and crown of the head not to mention the hair line receding. I heard a lot of good results from Propecia so I confronted my doctor about it a couple of weeks ago. He did not suggest it due to it’s side effects and so I went home and did some more research on the product. If only I came across this site sooner. Went back to see the doc last week and told him I wanted to go on Propecia. He wrote the script and this monday I took half a pill of Proscar. Was not able to afford Propecia but my insurance covered Proscar. Took the half pill in the morning and by that afternoon I noticed my feet swelling up, then I had this foggy feeling in my head the rest of the day. It was awlful! Not only that but I began to get very dizzy and started bumping into things. Felt like I was drunk. That evening while I was playing some video game with my son I could hardly concentrate on what I was doing. Started to feel depressed that night as well and did not sleep at all that night. Noticed my body temp was low and felt cold all night. This morning, Tuesday, I felt less dizzy but still in a fog. Swelling went down in the feet so I decided to take a quarter of a pill this afternoon. I’m already starting to feel lethargic and foggy feeling is coming on again. I am quitting this drug right now, have already thrown the bottle out. Will these side effects go away within a few days or am I stuck with them for life?
Thank you for the link 3pm. Today I seem a little better than yesterday. Mental clarity is improving and less dizzy. Have noticed that I have become more aggressive than normal today. I don’t know if that is because my testosterone is coming back to normal along with the DHT levels or what. Stil feel fatigued though. So my question now is, is there a natural way to prevent hair loss and possibly hair regrowth or am I going to have to just let nature take it’s course?
gdof … don’t fuck your health, put an hairpiece and you will have beautifull hair untill the end of time …
Yeah, what italy said. I took 2 pills of proscar to try and treat my prostatorrhea, and after getting hit with the side effects, I’d like nothing more than to uncontrollably leak ejaculate and not be dead inside. Even though I’m not part of the majority here who took fin for MPB, I’ve still come to the same conclusion that our imperfect normal selves are far more important than our vanity, or in my case, embarrassment.
Everyone’s body reacts to finasteride differently, and it’s still too early for you to draw any conclusions. Most likely you’ll start feeling much better within 2 weeks to a month, and you’ll probably make a full recovery. If you’re worried, get some blood tests (as listed in the FAQs) so you’ll have an idea of what’s going on.
For me, it’s been 3 weeks since i’ve been off the stuff. I’m finally near-normal again (with the exception of off-and-on minor dizziness, erectile disfucntion, and emotional blunting). I know it’s absolutely horrifying to go through, but do your best to keep your anxiety low. Stressing out only makes it worse.
