SAMe

Anyone try this before? I can’t figure out a way to search for info on SAMe… and not get thousands of hits for ‘same’.

This single line in a google search on receptor burnout has my attention.

“My ND told me receptor burn out can be fixed by supplementing with SAMe at 200mg X 3 times per day.”

…Maybe if there’s a fraction of truth to it, it might help to try this if we get a tolerance to an ED drug like Cialis… But, I’m sure it’s probably bs.

Google SAM-e

What do you mean by receptor burnout, are you talking bout desensitized androgen receptors?
Sounds interesting anyway, mainly used for depression i see. I’m sure it could be useful in that respect for alot of us here even if thats all it does.

Just did some google searches on why people develop tolerances or need to cycle supplements. Thinking I could handle taking something long term to have a ‘normal’ functioning penis… but, about 4 different times I have went a couple months at damn near 95%… only to find it’s no longer as effective.

Most of the things that have worked should not have affected my hormones… So why can’t there be some sort of a reset to make whatever supplement work again? This seems like a solvable problem to me… Or I could be out to lunch?

Here’s where I got the “receptor burnout” term:

Without getting scientific, the human body is a fascinating piece of biological machinery. It is smart. Smarter than we choose to believe. When our bodies are exposed to exogenous substances such as supplements, alcohol, drugs, etc, it builds a tolerance. This tolerance requires us to consume more and more of the product in order to get the desired effect.

This characteristic stems from receptor attenuation. You see, our body is full of receptors which have the ability to bind to specific receptor agonists and antagonists. Receptor agonists activate the receptors while antagonists do the exact opposite. So the more receptors you flood over the time, the more they become desensitized. This can lead to receptor burnout which can cause a myriad problems. So basically, abuse of a substance is a no-no.

Is that right? What has got you to 95%? I’m assuming you’ve tried cycling…?
