Safety info about DIM + I3C (supplements to lower estrogen)

Before jumping on a DIM + I3C estrogen management protocol/supplements, read the following article on safety about these supplements.

Based on this article (which references scientific studies), it would appear DIM is the safer choice.

Conclusion:

The I3C safety issues described here should not be lightly dismissed – every one of these safety concerns must be addressed by anyone advocating I3C. Animal and human testing raises the concern of I3C toxicity. Excessive enzyme induction, as seen with I3C, is associated with disease promotion.

In contrast, DIM has a consistently positive safety record which makes a strong argument for its safe, effective and long-term use in humans. For those interested in a scientifically-based, cruciferous supplement for estrogen-related concerns, DIM provides distinct advantages over I3C. DIM is a conservative, well-studied, safe, and clearly effective natural substance.

Zeligs is the doctor who formulated DIM so take anything he says with a grain of salt as he has been known to bash I3C in favor of DIM

A bit of research will reveal that I3C is actually superior due to its far greater bio-availability

Hi,
some members of this forum wrote that they had benefits for PFS-symptoms of DIM-capsules (if I understood well).

If some of them could write their experiences, that would be just fine (i.e.effectivity, dosages, brand).

Of course, if some people had negative reactions of DIM (or eating broccoli), they could write their comments.

Cheers, Desperado.

DIM is a pure anti-androgen in addition to being an anti-estrogen, so I would stay away.

I’ve used dim - brand was Dim plus I believe. It reduced estrogen and had no effect on lowering T. So if you want a natural way before drugs/hormones I would give it a shot

There was a user at ATM who recently got pfs symptoms after using dim. He is the first report i have heard of in this regard.

some or one member got same sides as pfs from Arimidex on mesomorphosis.com. I don’t remember exactly but you can go and do a search. If some one finds please paste here.

Not sure what ATM stands for??

I would be VERY suprised if DIM caused PFS symptoms in that individual. DIM is considered very mild but really does work to lower estrigen naturally - not too much different then the broccoli treatment.

My labs showed on dim my estrigen reduced - my total T stayed axatcly at 711 ot 718. Had the PFS symptoms before and after though

All Things Male

what is this?

Arimidex curbed my nocturnal erections: it used to be completely firm, but not anymore. We are stuck in bizarro world with these problems.

I had the same problem with arimidex notworthit.

Not sure what the mechanisms behind it are.

I am fine now (nocturnal erection department), but the problem was definitely caused by the arimidex. I only took it for 2 weeks, because I spoke to an endocrinologist who advised me against it. I was under the impression that it was essentially an aromatase inhibitor, but this person was arguing that it worked as an estrogen receptor antagonist, and that androgen also binded with the estrogen receptor. I had never heard of this, so I was suprised and took his advice.

So you get firm nocturnal erections? what about morning erections?

There both fine now. My main problem is fatigue.

notworthit, have you considered taking anything for the fatigue? like this:

pycnogenol
alpha-lipoic
L-arginine

Yes, Fab I have taken the last two with no luck. The only thing that has helped is liver supplements. I found the effects wore off after some time and I would have to ramp up the dose to feel not bad (allowed me to fucntion at work). At one point I resorted to taking 25-30mls of Chinese Bitters because the recommended 5mls wasn’t having any effects. I had to stop because it was getting out of hand. I also only experienced muscle loss and enlarged nipples after cessation of liver supp. I can now not work. I see you are quite new, so I should divulge that I have been afflicted by Isotretinoin, and that may void all of what I said.
