Safe moisturizer?

I am afraid of using moisturizer products because of all the chemicals. But just like many here my skin became very dry.

I tried coconut oil, it works great but people here scared me that it has anti adrogenetic effects.

How about olive oil? It is not the most convenient clearly. But any issues?

Other alternatives?

Thanks

I’d be interested in this too. Any suggestions?

Me too, definitely interested for good suggestions. Same for deodorant.

I’ve seen 2 cases (one even very recently), where hygiene products caused crashing or side-effects. We know skin is very effective at taking stuff in (eg progesterone TRT creams), why not every other cream out there as well?

… In my first PFS years, drinking from cheap plastic bottles (for mineral water) started to give me gyno. And gyno has never been an issue for me, only during the first weeks in hard crashes. That was the moment I stopped downplaying the hazards of modern chemicals… wow. I want to live clean for the rest of my life if possible, modern urban life sucks.

Two suggestions:

(1) Monistat Chaffing Relief Powder Gel: The key ingredient here is dimethicone, which is also the key ingredient in (no joke) Silly Putty – which has been a kid’s toy for decades, so we know it’s safe. That acts as kind of a wet suit that protects the skin for long periods of time, while letting it breathe. Women use it in their more sensitive of areas, as well as for a makeup under-primer. A celebrity stylist recommended it to me and it has made my severely dry skin about 60% better:

(2) Kukui Oil: This is a 100% natural moisturizer from a Hawaiian plant. I use it over the Monistat Chaffing Gel on my face and that helps another, say, 20%:

Skin damage was the main side effect I suffered from finasteride. After I went off the drug, there was a year where it felt like my face was on fire whenever I shaved. Through a lot of trial and error, I learned to use only Bump-Fighter razors every 3 or 4 days:

And take a full show on more or less the same schedule – and use the chaffing gel and Kukui oil. They helps a lot, though my skin still feels bone-dry most of the time.

For some reason, finasteride shuts down the oil glands in some men, which can make one profoundly uncomfortable, to say nothing of depressed. Because, even though I’ve learned to better treat this damage, it’s permanent.

And the cause – no matter what Merck tells the media – IS finasteride.

Hey man, I really appreciate your insight and stories on this, thanks. I’ll try these out when I have some spare money.

As for non-oily glands, yeah it sucks, definitely PFS symptom. I used to stress about being too oily in face pre-PFS, but I didn’t realize it was a good thing, a sign of working hormones lol. Too misinformed, just like with hair issues. I just very recently got semi-oily skin back but it happened slowly over the course of my current protocol. I still don’t kind of believe it to be honest, looking at the mirror any day and see at least semi-oily forehead after these 5 long years.

I often use vitamin E - buy it as a liquid or pop a capsule open. Works pretty well.

To my list of helpful products above, let me add Cremo:

I bought their shaving cream this weekend just because it was sitting on the shelf at CVS.

Well, it works wonders. So now I ordered their moisturizer online, hoping that can help even more.

If anyone else tries it, let me know what you think.

Thanks.
