Ringing in the Ears - Anyone else have this?

Hi Everyone,

I know this symptom has been covered in the past, but looking through the forums, there is not much recent stuff on it.

Who hear developed a ringing in the ears/tinnitus symptoms while on finasteride or after stopping it?

I developed the ringing shortly after most of the original symptoms started to manifest themselves, the ringing just started one day and to this day has not yet stopped. I had my ear checked by my GP and he said it looks clear and fine, also there was no ear injury at all, so it developed out of the blue.

I know tinnitus has been linked to hormonal imbalances and I am hoping once I get my hormones back in check it should stop, but so far still it is still there, after about 2 months off of finastride. (BTW, I am currently feeling horrible, as I suffered the major post fin crash about a week ago, symptoms cam roaring back after a brief period of relief)

I have not had any blood work results yet, should have my first ones this week. (Bioavailable testosterone, Cortisol, TSH, T4 and CBC.)

Let me know guys…

Gino

I have recently started getting it, although it’s not constant so it’s very easy to deal with.

Why don’t you bump one of the older threads to keep the info together?

my ears feel like they have water in them and its a constant ringing. had them seringed but made no difference. also my eyes have started to really hurt but i dont think either of these are fin related. what is weird is if i put my finger in my belly button its numb now and if i push down it is so hard. have not noticed this before anyone else have this

Annon, the bellybutton thing is weird man. At times of recovery i have often had tenderness around my bellybutton area. It’s so strange how we have these small symptoms that are similar.

Yeah, right before I had my mega crash, I noticed I had hearing loss in my right ear. I even went to the ear doctor because I wanted to know what the hell was going on, I didn’t even relate it to propecia. I also have tinnitus, which is annoying man!

My take on it is that the tinnitus is probably related to anxiety, which is one of the symptoms of PFS.

I have had Eustachian Tube problems ever since I started on Propecia. Recently, my anxiety levels have gone through the roof, and with it my ET problems. I started taking GABA to reduce anxiety (which actually seems to work), and this also solves the tinnitus and ET problems temporarily. I take 4*200mg per day (I am NOT a doctor).

Also note that tinnitus is a condition in which neurons related to the ear keep on firing, causing the ringing sensation. As I understand, GABA inhibits excessive firing of neurons. GABA is like the opposite of coffee.

I just hope that the GABA keeps my problems down.

i have tinnitus as well. floaters and blurry vision came soon after. nonPFS people also experience both at the same time

Its visual snow syndrome. Causes vision problems and tinnitus at the same time. The reason is metabolism issues of brain. Go and search it.

Hello,

Brand new to this forum. Let’s see, where do I begin. I took Propecia for a long time, from 1998 when it first came out to 2012. I never felt any side effects.

It has been a little over two years just recently I have noticed ringing, pressure in my left ear for about the past 3 weeks. It seems to get worse after workouts and if I drink alcohol. Sometimes during the day I notice it drift over to my right ear a bit but it mainly stays in my left ear. At first I thought it might be chronic tinnitus which is also scary, since I used to play in bands and generally did not treat my ears well when I was younger. Now I am convinced that it could be something else and possibly related to Propecia. I am going to the Doctor next week for a physical but I imagine he will refer me to an ear, nose and throat doctor and I imagine if it is Propecia related then they won’t find anything. Obviously coming to this forum is a bit terrifying as it seems like some have really suffered. I used to live in California where I could by it at a cosmetic dermatology clinic over the counter which only reinforced the idea that this stuff must be harmless…crazy.

I developed vision problems and Tinnitus.

Now, 11-12 months afterquitting, vision troubles are almost gone and Tinnitus has lowered very much.

I hope they keep on fading and finally get cured.

Yes, only in my left ear. It has been getting worse progressively (along with other problems mainly on that side of my body) since I quit. I have heaps of problems clearing the pressure in that side compared to the other which doesn’t have the tinnitus, but my ENT says the ear is physically fine.
