Reset of the 5-alpha reductase and DHT return?

Hey guys,

i’m a young men (not anymore) and i’m still suffering about my side effects (Loss of Libido, ED, Depression & Anxiety, testicle pain). For me, it’s one of the dangerous drugs in the world, can’t understand why pharma industries produce this drug.

Anyway, my question is, how long does the 5-alpha reductase needs for a Reset. I took only 4 pills/ 4 days, 1,25mg Finasteride 2 weeks ago and have still testicle pain for example, more or less, depends on the time. I feeling a little bit better on the psychological side, but the ED and Libido is still missing

Its to early to speak about permanent, but i also dont see any big improvement and i read a lot about 7-10 days after quitting and returning of the DHT.

Does anyone knows more about the time? I’m sorry for my bad english. Is there a date, when everything should be normal after quitting?

Cheers & Thanks

I would give it a few weeks/months.

In the meantime, avoid alcohol.
Avoid excessive masturbation/ejaculation …say once every 3 or 4 days.
Also avoid excessive exercise… you dont want to overstress your body.

Give your body some time to return to normal.

Did you visit your doctor?

Hopefully your not having an extreme crash, if its manageable try to relax and see what happens over about a month.

I must emphasise the no sex/masturbation piece. I’ve not crashed in the sense of most people on here but my health has gradually deteriorated post finasteride and I can categorically say sex/masturbation is the cause of this.

According to Merck, all hormone values returns to baseline values within 2 weeks after stopping the treatment, so any side effects should subside within then. However, patent information reveals that finasteride is an irreversible inhibitor. The reductase enzyme becomes permanently defect when the drug has bound to it. The body should be synthesizing new enzymes at a constant rate, which is why the drug has to be taken once a day. The half-life of the defect enzyme complex is approximately 30 days, which means that 50% of the enzymes should have been replaced after 1 month, 75% after 2 months and so forth. In other words, it could take months to recover.

PS:

Finasteride isn’t a selective inhibitor of 5a-reductase type 2 enzymes, as it has been marketed. It binds to 5a-reductase type 1- and type 3 as well - although it’s said to have a weak affinity for type 1. 5a-reductase type 3 was discovered after the drug was released, and it’s a very potent inhibitor of that enzyme too.

It binds to 5AR3 in vitro at roughly the same potency as 5AR2, but we don’t have any in vivo experiment do we? Anyway judging by the mental sides, I’m guessing it does it job pretty well lol

Do we know the key functions of 5AR3 in the body and the subsequent risks of reducing this enzyme?
