Recovery tools and supplements that work...

Hey guys,

Just sharing some good news on my cognitive improvements and what I found to be most helpful.
I also have PROOF that my cognitive sides are getting better. (fyi; took Propecia 7 yrs, stopped 4 yrs ago, 2yrs actively trying to recover)

Things I’ve done over the past 6 months, which I had not done previously…
Paleo Diet- avoid gluten, sugar, alcohol and carbs
Exercise - weights and cardio 5-6 days a week

Supplements for the brain:
NAC - super antioxidant - 1 to 2 daily
EMPower Plus by True Hope 4 to 8 caps daily
Lions Mane -3 caps daily
Omega 3’s (Metagenics) - 2 caps am and 2 caps pm
Drinking lots of spring water daily (I use “MIO fit” to flavor)
B6, B12, D3, Magnesium, Zinc

Tools:
Lumosity (subscription required but worth it)
Brain game apps for your phone-
Mathagon (free, fun and addicting math game)
Mind Games (free) Similar concept as Lumosity

Ok, so you might be asking how I can prove the cognitive sides are abating…

Lumosity records your performance statistics and uses a measurement called BPI (brain performance index).
My BPI started out at 411 in November 2013. And as of today, my BPI is 871. More than doubled in 5 months. And what’s even better news is that a comparison to others in my age group puts me at 71.7 percentile
Talk about encouraging.

I hope this can help others like it has for me. I remind myself daily… “Recovery requires ‘action’ on my part”.

A side note: Over the last few days I indulged in a few drinks (alcohol), had a few burgers and fries and rolled tacos (gluten and carbs), and munched on quite a few M&M’s (sugar).
The reason I mention this is to confirm the truth about avoiding them. Sleep quality went down, my head felt like there was a constant tension inside (inflamation from gluten?).
Anyhow, I found it much more difficult to do the Lumosity games and scored lower over the past few days.

Interesting post, nevertheless the more you play the better you score when constantly playing games like these. The same applies even in iq tests.

Glad you’re feeling better, man. I know things have been pretty rough for you. How would you describe how you currently feel compared to the past? Like do improvements come it waves? Are they huge improvements, etc ?
