razorxtr's tests

I am 21 Been taking Propecia for 2 months,
it was working wonders on my hair but…

Experienced Side effects, Eye Twitching, Brain Fog, Speech problems, Decreased Libido, Harder to reach orgasm - have to really really concentrate, Mood swings, Depressed at times, kept putting off things because i didn’t feel like doing them like bills, and work, memory problems.
I really felt like i was Drunk but without the good feeling.

Dont want to exercise anymore - weight lift really really tired afterward.

Just felt like not myself.

I came upon this forum and started reading other guys stories and decided to Tamper off Propecia and hopefully recover.

So August 6th was the last day that i took a full 1mg of Propecia.

My plan
For the next 2 weeks i drop the dose to 1/2.
Then on the 20th i will drop that down to 1/4th
Until September 3rd.
Stop altogether.

It has been exactly 1 Week since i have been on 1/2mg:
what i have noticed so far…

Increased sexual desires. I have orgasmed 2 days straight last week
with no problems.

Today (13th) i got morning wood which was a first in a long time
and Orgasmed but i became VERY VERY Tired afterward.

I mean not just sluggish i could not get up: i slept for 3 hours in the afternoon did nothing all day and still tired.

This is ridiculous: I will try not to hold off on the masturbating for the next few days and see if i feel any better.

I am sticking to my Plan but if you have any other suggestions
feel free to respond and i will take them into account.

Most importantly i need support to keep taking this crap even tho its doing havoc to my system - i do not want to have a crash.

If you can, and I REALLY recommend you do, get bloodtests as outlined in the Hormones & Bloodtests section to see what your current levels are while ON the drug, so you’ll have something to compare against when you come off!

Good luck with your protocol, keep us updated.

Can i just walk into the clinic and get them or do i need a doctor referral?

Would insurance cover them if i just walk in?

Looked on that page…
I know taking all of them would rack up a bill.
What would be the most important to take?

I don’t know where you live, but where I’m from you go to your doc and basically have to convince them to fill out a requisition form with the bloodtests you want, which you then take to the lab to get done, and which is covered by healthcare.

However, if your doc is reluctant to test things, you can offer to pay for them yourself – at that point he shouldnt put up any resistance.

If you live in the US, you can also pay for tests directly from the lab I believe, I think Labcorp, Arup Labs and Quest Diagnostics are the main players… look them up and call them up to confirm.

If you can’t get everything tested (and you really should), go for:

Total Testosterone
Free Testosterone
Bioavailable Testosterone
DHT
Estradiol (E2)
LH
FSH
SHBG
Progesterone
Prolactin
Androstanediol glucuronide (Adiol-G)
TSH
CBC
LFT

I will hopefully get tested Next week…

Update
on On Aug 13th I have decided to stop Propecia cold turkey now,

Day 4 Off Drug

I am Horney As hell , I can barely stand it.
I guess thats not that bad of a sign for now…

so quit the journal. u feel fine. enjoy it and get on with ur life. stop reading the forum…its of no use to u. stop before u read all the side effects u avoided…and before u start to think u have them.

good luck man
jack

Update:
October 1 1.5 Months after quitting Propecia.

Sex Drive decreased, I can orgasm quickly tho
Feel increased Anxiety and fear for no reason.
Feel pressure and tightness in chest like heart will jump out.

Wish me luck.

That might be signs of gynecomastia. I thought I had tightness in my chest and the cardiologist ran all sorts of tests but they were fine. I went to another doctor to talk to him about my fin problems and he said indeed I had some gynecomastia.

.

Im 22 Years old.
Been off 18 months of this crap and i still feel terrible.
Been on this for 3 months.

I have compiled my most recent test results on the bottom.
Highlighted and BOLD are out of range/Low or High results.
I’m suspect of having adrenal Fatigue or close to it but docs have a hard time believing that for whatever reason.

Last year tests: (ranges in brackets)

Cortisol ASI Saliva Stress Test: (at test result time - off Pro 9 months)

7-8am - 8 (13 - 24nM)
11 - noon 2 (5 - 10nM)
4-5pm 4 (3 - 8nM)
11-Midnight 1 (1-4nM)

DHEA 3 3-10nm/ml (Adult)

Estraidol E2 - 10 Male 20-49yo (1-3pg/ml)
Free Testosterone - 55 Male 20-30 (60-110pg/ml)
Androstenedione 297 - (151 - 350pg/ml)
DHT - 36 Male 30 - 39 (22-72pg/ml)

The most recent Lab Work (Off Pro 18 months)

Cortisol ASI Saliva Stress Test:

7-8am - 9 (13 - 24nM)
11 - noon <1 (5 - 10nM)
4-5pm <1 (3 - 8nM)
11-Midnight 3 (1-4nM)

DHEA 9 3-10nm/ml (Adult)
(This went up from 3?? what gives??)

Estraidol E2 - 11 Male 20-49yo (1-3pg/ml) <-- risen
Free Testosterone - 41 Male 20-30 (60-110pg/ml) <— fall
Androstenedione 222 - (151 - 350pg/ml)
DHT - 68 Male 30 - 39 (22-72pg/ml) < — risen

Thyroid levels:
TSH - 2.54 (.34 - 5.60)
T4 free - .86 (.61 - 1.64)
T3 free - 3.0 (2.5-3.9)

Testosterone 115 (47 - 244pg/mL) ???

My concern is the low Cortisol levels and high Estraidol for my age on the latest test. I seems like everything is getting worse than better.
I feel like crap, Tired, Brain fog, weak, concentration / memory problems problems staying awake in the afternoon.

Any comments on these tests and what do you guys interpret from them.
Every doc keeps telling me im fine!!!
where the hell do i go then

Im frustrated now. Seems as if nobody is listening to me!

What did your doctor have to say about your low cortisol levels?

.

Thanks, My endo does not see anything wrong with the tests from “his point of view”

The saliva tests i got from a homeopath doc and all he treats me with is homeopathic stuff. I take these tests to an endo he barely looked over them and dismisses all tests and says everything looks good. He told me i might be depressed and to go see a psych. Im not going back to that idiot.

VERY frustrating !!!
I appreciate your help. Major problems i have are: Brainfog, out of it, Tiredness. Very weird how i can be depressed and look like shit just between 12 - 6p. By 9pm i feel great. Rinse and Repeat!

what about starting considering neurosteroids and and/or neurotrasitters …?

it’s 3 hours i’m googleing on internet and,by my opinion…(i ve many) the most important test to do,like Mew some times posted is 3alfa androstenediol . it’s not 100% reliable, but it is the best to show the 5alfa reductasy peripheral function .

so…i’l try to do it soon and hope u all try to do it…it’s an easy test to do,u can do it by urine or by blood, like all the others tests u already did…this could give us a good answer, and maybe explain why we don’t have sebo on the skin in the head and in penis, why our hair fall lower and why some have srinkage .

if u google and read about irsutism on female, the studies show that this female don’t present any hormonal imbalance from bloodtest, not out of ranges, but they have issues on the peripherical skin with their 5 alfa reductasy,so maybe this could be our case…seen that no doc can find anything wrong in our bloodtests.

try to get this test !!!

i will see Dr Crisler and see what he recommends this is crazy

Virtually any human being, unskilled in any way, would look at your Cortisol levels and recognize something is up. You need adrenal treatment. Might not be necessary to see Crisler, as there are probably competent docs in loads of cities, but if he’s close enough, then yeah, I’d do it.

From my understanding, DHEA can shoot up in order to try and compensate for low Cortisol. I have big time high DHEA these days (low-normal Cortisol), and am currently taking hydrocortisone, 15mg/day.

Apart from the symptoms you listed, your sex drive etc. is ok?

well the problem is i have seen maybe about 6 docs so far and each one tell me im fine based on my tests. Even after looking at my cortisol results!

Maybe if i see Crisler i can ask for hydrocortisone?
does the hydrocortisone help you?

What other docs should i be looking for to treat my Adrenal issues?
This is ridiculous.

I was treated for adrenal fatigue last year - have you been taking DHEA supplements (e.g. 25 mg/day)? This would be the first step.

Try tio seek out a doc that will prescribe low dose cortisol via a compounding pharmasist (search out a compounding pharmacy then ask the pharmacist who they recommend)…

Also, maybe try some nettle root to increase your free testosterone.

With topical cortisol, nettle root and tyrosine I actually had a ~ 6 week period when I felt pretty god.

kazman,

try to find a doctor who know about adrenal fatigue. I will have a saliva cortisol test done and aldosterone too. then I will go to an endo in Barcelona, who was recommended to me. otherwise, there is another one in Birmingham (UK) who I have heard of.

good luck.
