Questions from someone who is quitting starting today

hi all

this is a great forum in terms of a plethora of information about finasteride and I wish I had seen it prior to my stint with finasteride. I have been using finepecia for over 1.5 years now. I am seeing the side effects since the last 3 months or so and I am planning on quitting. I have the following questions for learned members of this forum and would appreciate any assistance -

  • Firstly, I am worried about my side-effects remaining after quitting. Does anyone know what % of quitters recover copmletely within the specified 30-45 days?

  • Secondly, can anyone tell me how long does it take for all the hair that grew/remained thanks to finasteride to disappear. While I care more about the side-effects than my hair, I’d like to know what to expect

  • Thirdly, the FAQ section lists a large number of tests, that I should conduct pre and post usage. I wanted to know if all of them are necessary or are there a subset I can conduct?

  • Fourthly - as I have seen in this forum and on the Internet, there are a % of people who continue seeing the side effects even after quitting. Is there any knowledge of how many of those are linked to finasteride usage. The reason I ask this is because in the test studies shown on this site, even a certain % of people in the placebo groups have shown side-effects. Therefore it can be assumed that some people will tend to suffer from loss of libido / erectile dysfunction irrespective of finasteride. Does anyone know what this % is, and if the side-effects remain even after quitting, is there a way to tell whether the same was a result of finasteride or was it expected to occur due to some other reason.

I appreciate any response to these queries from people who can share their experiences and knowledge

Nobody knows. But odds are in your favor that things should go back to normal.

Nobody cares about hair here anymore, that question is best served by a hairloss site. Regardless I can speak from my own experience in that it took well over a YEAR for any significant shedding to start coming back. You have nothing to worry about.

There are no studies looking at permanent side effects of Finasteride after use so nobody can give an answer.

Yes but everyone here was perfectly functional before Finasteride, and those side effects are listed as being caused BY THE DRUG BY MERCK. It doesn’t take a genius to put 2 and 2 together.

Furthermore genital shrinkage, penile fibrosis/Peyronie’s disease, gynecomastia, reduced ejaculate, loss of morning/spontaneous/nocturnal erections – those are not placebo side effects, those are real, physical changes to one’s body thanks to androgen deprivation via Finasteride.

I do not really know whether this is 2 + 2 question. I am sure our problems are far more complicated then finasteride alone. If it was 2 + 2 thing we would have hundred times more people on this forum. We have to consider different factors which worked together with finasteride to finaly get us into this permanent problem.

I am considering any possibility including genetic factors. On the other hand I feel that there is something strange going on with me inside and would rather guess it is more like the unknown disease.
