Question Before I Visit The Endocrinologist: can people get irreversibly worse after drug treatment/therapy?

At first, my plan was just to wait on a natural recovery and not worry about it. I’ve always been sure of a natural recovery, but as time keeps passing I’m beginning to realize that it’s really not going anywhere, and I honestly can’t tell if I have improved or worsened over the past 2 months.
I’ve definitely improved since just after quitting the drug, but now I feel I may have plateaued.

Anway, I’m finally considering a visit to the endocrinologist and having a professional take a whack at this.
My question is, can people get irreversibly worse after drug treatment/therapy?
I just don’t want to go in there, spend a whole bunch of money, and end up more fucked than I already am.

Giantfish,

No one can really say what would happen if you were to go on some form of drug to help you recover. What we do know is there are very few men that have seen the benifits of treaments such as TRT, based on the feedback on this forum.

Personally I can tell you I have been off of the poison for more than 2 years and things have not improved much at all.

The best advice I would have is to search some of the member stories for men for have tried Testosterone Replacement. Ask the guys that it didn’t work for if things got worse, did it level off once they stopped. One guy you can start with is Boston332. I know he tried using some form of T.

There’s an active thread on high doses of T. This could be helpful.

bostonusa is right. I had no improvement on TRT and generally TRT doesnt seem to work. But, since we don’t even know why this happened to us you can’t rule out that you won’t get some benefit. I’d definately encourage you to seek treatment just keep expectations within reason. Just going and getting your labs done and reviewing the options is well worth the money. I too figured I had a great chance to naturally recover. That never happened for me either. I would never get sick and I was in good shape too prior to Fin.

Far as “irreversibly worse” I’d have that conversation with your endo. I personally havn’t seen anyone get irreversibly worse (maybe that speaks to how bad we are screwed up) and remember testosterone is something that is (should) be naturally in your body anyway. Go for bioidential hormones if you can, just my opinion there. Most docs try a HPTA restart protocol before going to TRT.

In the meantime best thing I’ve done for myself was try to clean up my diet best I could. Try to stick to my paleo foods, get plenty of rest, try to occupy your mind with other things when possible, etc.
