I was wondering if word has gotten out to the press about the post fin-use issues. I consider myself quite well informed, especially in issues related to health, and I don’t recall having read anything on the subject.
I’m sure there are plenty of post fin users out there,with symptoms, with no idea what is wrong with them. Some could be in rather serious depression. I know this is true because I was one of them until I lucked out by finding this website.
Also, have warning posts been made on the hair loss websites?
So, that answers my question. It would be nice if AP picked up on that and went global.
What answers your question?
Some members of the old Yahoo forum attempted to contact media a few years back, don’t think anything much came of it. And some guys on this forum have suggested it as well.
The best success we’ve had so far is Snowking’s TV interview on Swedish News about irreversible Finasteride side effects (you can watch the video by viewing the sticky at top of this forum), which I’m sure has played a role in the Swedish Medical Agency now investigating this claim further.
As for hairloss forums, I and others do try and impart our knowledge if guys are looking for help but for the most part, since most hairloss members have decided to save their hair at any cost, they tend to view us “permanent” side effects guys as “cry babies”, “liars” and “its all in your head”.
Since i am swedish and still beeing treated as if i was hypocondric when explaining my propecia side effects to docs here, i sadly must report that the treating doctors seem to have taken no special notice of this report on the news. However in the news segment the doc awnsering the reporters questions is working for swedens largest research hospital, im scheduled for an appointment there on july 9th. Ill make sure to ask if something is beeing looked into or what the situation is on the matter.
Publicity is the deliberate attempt to manage the public’s perception of a subject. The subjects of publicity include people (for example, politicians and performing artists), goods and services, organizations of all kinds, and works of art or entertainment.
From a marketing perspective, publicity is one component of promotion. The other elements of the promotional mix are advertising, sales promotion, and personal selling. Promotion is one component of marketing.
But the publicist cannot wait around for the news to present opportunities. They must also try to create their own news. Examples of this include:
* Contest
* Art exhibitions
* Event sponsorship
* Arrange a speech or talk
* Make an analysis or prediction
* Conduct a poll or survey
* Issue a report
* Take a stand on a controversial subject
* Arrange for a testimonial
* Announce an appointment
* Invent then present an award
* Stage a debate
* Organize a tour of your business or projects
* Issue a commendation
I think you bring up a very serious social issue, that I have often thought about. I believe the sheer number of men taking this drug or have taken it that are experiencing these side effects is massive. Look at the annual sales in the hundreds of millions, there have to be hundreds of thousands of men around the world suffering.
Think about how long it took you to admit something wasn’t right. It doesn’t get any more embarrassing for a man than admitting you have ED. I know I waited longer than I should have to admit this crap was hurting me. I also was like you and did not realize many things that I was experiencing were related to this medication.
Wish I’d lucked out and found this website earlier instead of my last run and then not weening off.
I remember reading in some prissy men’s mag about ‘all’ the treatments for hairloss - minox, transplant etc - but no mention of fin. Probably cos that would have meant the journalist having to try it out and risk the sides, he knew more than me.
Must be loads of men not getting random hardons, feeling slightly depressed and apathetic etc and not knowing what the fuck’s going on. If you take a drug a long time that becomes normal.
Many more will crash and many more who have ‘recovered’ will encounter future problems.
Wonder if the hypogonadism forums will be half composed of ex-fin users in 10 or 15 years time.
