Tell us your story, in your own words, about your Finasteride usage and side effects experienced while on/off the drug.
My hair started falling off when I was at the end of my uni years. I was 24 years when I felt I had a hairloss. By the time I graduated I felt I could no longer style my hair the way I wanted. I had more “bad hairdays” than good hairdays. I always blamed it on anything but hairloss. When I was at end of my 25 year I was at a party with a girl-friend of mine. I remember walking to her bathroom and this downlight was kinda strange. It hit me right in the top of my head and exposed my scalp bigtime. I couldnt believe it. I was so depressed weeks after this incidence. So I went to my GP and got proscar prescription. I started as doc recommended 1.25mg every day. Everything was dandy and fine. You won’t believe it but it stopped hair loss after 3 days. 1 week later I could feel my hair was much better. I had a illusion (maybe real) that there was some growth too! But it 100% stopped my hairloss. I usually carefully towel dry my hair because I dont want to be dissapointed when I see 10-15 hairs on the towel after every scrub. But just tomake sure the hairloss had stopped i used excessive force once and … nothing! no hair strands on my towel
This was such a great day. My confidence rose instantly. I felt like running around in the snow and dancing and singing. I daydreamt myself being 40+ years old with full head of hair.
The first signs of sides came when I was supposed to take some equipments from my house to my sisters house. I was halfway on my way to her in my car when I realized, I forgot the point of the entire trip. The equipments were left behind! How could I forgot something like that. I consolidated some people on a hair loss forum and they were all like “it happens to normal people too, people forget things sometimes”. I unwillingly agreed and continued finasteride 1.25 mg a day. The next side was when I after 2 weeks of usage woke up with no morning wood. I reducded the dosage to 0.625 every other day.
From there on it was terrible, new sides after side came up.
my semen was completely watery, my orgasm non-existant to weak. My penis when it was hard was not really “hard”, it had like a layer of softnesss around the stiff penis core. I used more time to “come”. Terrible.
Another side was penis shrinkage. When it was flaccid it could sometimes at its worst be the size of my pinky finger (length and width). I have female-ish hands so you can image how small my pinky is. Although when the penis was erect it had somehow original length but I never measured but it felt like the erect size was normal.
I also had massive brainfog and had to take days off work. I could not sit at office, sometimes i would have jolting pain between penis and butt.
I panicked and tried to reduce to around 0.2mg ever 4 days. Then once a week. But it didnt fucking help. I was fucked up bigtime. My anger grew… not at my doctor. but at those mentally sick virgin clowns at hairlosstalk, hairloss help, baldtruthtalk etc. These people lied, blatantly lied and fooled me into a trap. They knew well and truly what they suffered/suffer. These clowns deny the sides and keep acting as nothing happened.
I was extensively searching for sides on google and sometimes found old threads were users claims their suffer from massive sides. Then you see in a newer thread, the same user claims “never had any sides, im so happy with fin”. I am so angry, if any, such forums should be sued the fuck out of them for misinforming. There are few psychos that have accounts with thousands of posts, all they do is appear in every fin thread and claim its the gift from god.
Anyway back to my story, I accepted that I could no longer use fin and accepted my hairloss. I hit the gym to bulk up. Stay active. Eat healthy and make sure others see my other strengths apart from my hair.
One week after my last finasteride, I started recovering. My morning wood returned, semen slowly became sticky. Brain fog took few months to completely disappear. My penis shrinkage reverted too but took a little more time.
Today I can say I am so fortunate to recover from these horrible sides. I have now a good life, I dont think much about hairloss. I just workout, play with girls. Work hard, earn money and just enjoy my life. You guys probably wondering how my hair looks. This is a snapchat I sent today.
