Products to lower prolactin ?

As no doctor is saying that my levels of prolactin are linked to my nipples that are itchy and my chest that aches… and are not willing to work with me on this, I have to cope with it myself.

First I think that my Prolactin levels are suspicious

January 21st
Prolactin : 17 ng/ml (1.8-14.4)

March 17th
Prolactin : 16 (4-15)

I am looking for products available in stores or on the net to lower prolactin… What could it be ? Dopamin precursors like L-Tyrosine ?
Can you help me on this?

I think that vitamine B6 or bromocryptine.

I also have high prolactin and taking B6 with magnesium and vitamine E, but I haven’t check the level since 13th Feb. When I do the blood work again, I will post them.

OTC vitamin B6 or cabergoline (Cabaser 1mg split to four pieces, 0.25mg every three days seems to be the standard for treating hyperprolactenemia AFAIK)

Vitex may help.

Your prolactin levels are pretty high, and frankly I think it is a bit disturbing.

You may really want to consider getting an MRI scan to see if you have a pituitary tumor, I really hope for your sake that you don’t.

Also when looking for vitamin B6 look for Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate, this is supposed to be the best form for controlling prolactin.

Diesel test claims to control prolactin, as for how it does I don’t know.

Thank you for the replies…

I was talking about L-Tyrosine as I saw I can buy some in a shop close to my flat. Don’t you think it can help, as it is a dopamine agonist which is a prolactin antagonit ?

Otherwise I will look through your options.

i think i read somewhere that St. Johns Wort will also lower prolactin.

i also read somewhere that it can cause infertility in men… i have a big bottle of the stuff upstairs, but i’m afraid to use it :frowning:

I’m also having trouble getting a doctor to even have my prolactin levels checked!! Self diagnosis with no bloods could be dangerous!

I think I will give L-Tyrosine a shot during a few weeks and then check my prolactin levels.

AFAIK the best thing for controlling prolactin is cabergoline. I tried 0.25mg of it the other night and it is serious shit.

More natural options:

  • Vitamin B6 + magnesium
  • Mucuna pruriens (L-dopa containing plant)
  • L-tyrosine

All these are aiming to make the body manufacture more dopamine which should suppress prolactin. I don’t know why, but I found Mucuna useful but found L-Tyrosine too stimulating, i.e. it put me on edge. I’m not sure why this is but I’ve read that tyrosine is suspected to itself be a CNS stimulant, so maybe that’s it.

Be wary of dopamine raising supplements as you can gain a tolerance to it, and in effect be worse off than how you were to begin with when you stop taking them.

I understand what you say, but how to deal with this ?

Option 1 : I take nothing

Option 2 : I take some L-Tyrosine and see what it makes, and then when I stop I fell worse ?

I mean, I think I will try L-Tyrosine, but of course I would like to know if it is safe. You say I can develop a tolerance, did you read it somewhere that dopamine agonists do this or do you say this just because taking a product can lead to a tolerance in general ?

I dont want to mess me up more, so I’m very cautious (as mose people here by the way).

What is preferable ? Try it during one month and then stop ? But then, I can get worse than before.

I’m lost now lol
