I’ve been suffering from prolonged mental problems (anxiety, brainfog, depersonalization, derealization) and some physical as well but not ED since quitting this drug in Oct 06. I’ve been trying to convince my doctor that there is a connection with what I’m going through and Fin but for so long he just hasn’t fully believed it. So last week I printed off this study (from another thread on this board):
blackwell-synergy.com/doi/pd … 06.00053.x
…and guess what? He now believes it! He told me he had no idea what pathways Fin inhibits besides the DHT one. He then tried to get into the half life of the drug, saying that it couldn’t have had such a long lasting effect in my body so I had to tell him that Fin is a suicide inhibitor of 5AR type 2 and it could take weeks or months to regenerate that amount of 5AR and this surprised him. So for all people out there who are going to a doctor or have yet to convince their doctors, PRINT this out and give it to him or her! Docs like facts and studies and will only believe a patient armed with them.
Now he’s thinking of how to proceed. One thing he asked me is if I’d like to try some sort of extra strength GABA pills. Not Xanax or any kind of benzo but straight GABA that you get over the counter in the 4,000 mg range. I usually take about 100mg every odd week when I can’t sleep so I don’t know if taking 4,000mg would be advisable. Has anyone ever taken that high a dose? Does anyone know if one could become dependent on it at that strength? I wonder if this would help me or actually make things worse in the long run.
