Tell us your story, in your own words, about your usage and side effects experienced while on/off the drug.
Around august of this year I noticed I had sudden bald spots around my scalp, I would later find out this was called alopecia areata. I decided to contact a dermatologist for this problem, I made my appointment and was given injections for this issue and also a topical solution that they sold for hair loss which had minoxidil 7% and finasteride .1% little did I know that apparently this really doesn’t do anything if you have this condition the injections they give you is what really works. So over the months I kept using this topical not really noticing any side effects which looking back I definitely had but overtime I eventually i tapered off once my alopecia areata cleared up but because of this experience I got very self conscious about my hair loss since I noticed some thinning around the crown of my head and so come my next appointment I asked about oral finasteride since that is the more popular form of finasteride for hair loss and so I was given a prescription for it and took it immediately that day. After 4 days I decided to try to masturbate and to my horror I couldn’t get hard nor feel it, immediately I stopped it and hoped it would go away. Unfortunately for the next 2 weeks new symptoms came up and no improvements have been seen, I know you guys usually don’t allow people to post there story before 3 months but I really need to get this out there cause I might’ve just ruined my life cause of my damn vanity. Asking you guys for help maybe a fruitless endeavor but some advice or anything would be nice.

Hello, welcome and sorry. Advice is stay stopped and be patient, persistent sides often get worse before better and last longer than seems fair.

What kind of injection did they give you? Did they make any effort to diagnose why you suddenly got alopecia areata? I got that as an on-drug side both on my head and in my beard.

Not really they just checked the spots and injected them

Injected them with what?

triamcinolone acetonide, it’s a steroid injection
