Men with P . acnes found in their prostate tissue biopsy are over 4 times more likely to develop prostate cancer. A new study has found that Propionibacterium acnes is more common in the prostate tissue of men with prostate cancer, suggesting that the bacterium plays a role in the development of the disease.
