Predicting side effects based on hormones tests?

I often say to people that if they’re absolutely insistent upon taking finasteride that they should at least get their hormones tested so they have a baseline comparison if side effects arise.

Does anyone know if such a test prior to taking finasteride might identify those who are vulnerable to sides? E.g. if their testosterone or DHT levels are already low, can you reasonably say to such a person that they are more likely to suffer sides? Or is that entirely speculative?

The connection between PFS and hormones is clearly not quite an exact science, since in my case my hormone levels are reasonable yet I still have poor libido and sensitivity. If I had a baseline test now I’d presumably be considered a safe finasteride candidate.

Under no circumstances should this ever be given for hair loss. EVER! and NO I do not think hormone testing before hand will tell you anything. A guy with your hormones should be fine. What does that tell you? If your not warning every singe person you come into contact with about this you got blood on your hands.

I tell everyone that Propecia is a great drug that will return them to Norwood 1 and the only side effects are positive.

Actually, here is one of my latest posts about Propecia on a topic on r/tressless, where I try to reach people before it’s too late.

How’s that?

And please tell me, what have you done today to raise awareness? I’m dying to hear because it seems to me all you do is bash me.

You should take more of it Chris. Your a real scum bag. Coming here talking about hair transplants and selling this drug to people for a living still. Take more! So you can actually have PFS.

Every finasteride/dutasteride script should come with a print off of Paximperias member story.

I doubt nopecia sells it for a living, he’s actually a proof that you don’t need to take finasteride with a hair transplant.

Yeah, I’ve never sold Propecia and I never will. I get emails from guys asking me about hair transplants without taking Propecia as many clinics demand it, and I tell them that it’s not essential.

My question was how to advise men who are going to take it anyway, which mcibofh has interpreted as me being a Propecia salesmen.

What is up with this completely retarded question? You know there is no link. The studies are looking at cellular level changes. Why? Because there has been little to no success rate using known hormonal therapy.

Here’s a recent email and my response. I cut out most of the personal info but you get the idea.

Was brought to your blog through your posts on BT forums.

Im encouraged by your results after your surgery. I’m not such a bad case at the moment, still 24, only losing in my temples - I manage to cover it up w/ the thickness and length, but I would like to get a HT one day (I work in TV). I’m pretty sure I’m a NW2.5 now, still very thick up top and easily pass off as a solid NW2, tho I am continue to get very insecure about the recession because I am a working actor here, and would like to get something done and at least maintain hair into my early-mid 30’s.

What caught my attention w/ your posts was the fact that you are not on Finasteride. I am not so keen on being on Propecia, and don’t see a lot of HT patients who aren’t currently on the drug, so it’s encouraging to see positive results w/ someone not on it. Like, you finasteride is not an option. Not worth it.

Hi xxxxx,

I feel flattered to have an actor contact me  My blog seems to reach people from many different backgrounds and from all over the world. Anyway, I found your comments about the use of Propecia very interesting. I did try Propecia, but it’s been a big regret to me because of the side effects which I am still trying to overcome. I don’t promote Propecia and I try to encourage people not to take it, as like you, I believe the risk for damage to health outweighs the cosmetic benefits.

To answer your question, I am happy to say that I do not regret going for surgery without Propecia, as my hair loss is pretty stable and any future loss I think can be managed by further surgery. I hope this helps but feel free to get in touch if I didn’t answer all of your concerns.

Hey mcibofh, please respond and tell me all about what you do to raise awareness about Propecia. Still waiting.

Be aware of the people your asking these questions to. People that have lost their life to this, not just their libido. Think before you open your mouth. You have had this longer them me, then why wouldn’t you know the answer to this question already? There is no screening test for PFS hormonal or otherwise. You know this! So why are you asking people here? Awareness or no awareness this is a dumb rude ass thing to do and you do it constantly. Spend more time on reddit warning people and stop the dumb questions.
