Why is there little mention of this recovery?

T4,Free(Direct) 1.43 0.82-1.77 ng/dL
TSH 2.190 0.450-4.500 uIU/mL
ACTH, Plasma 18.6 7.2-63.3 pg/mL
Reverse T3 HIGH 487 90-350 pg/mL
Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Ab 6 0-34 IU/mL
Antithyroglobulin Ab <20 0-40 IU/mL
Triiodothyronine,Free 2.9 2.0-4.4 pg/mL

VERY high reverse T3. Actual T3 is lower than everything I have read believes it should be (upper 3rd of the range). Antibodies suggest it is not Hashimoto’s. I also have iron levels checked that are all normal, so it is not iron deficiency. I expect these results are due to abnormal cortisol results. 6x cortisol saliva test coming shortly. Will hopefully have the results this Friday or next Monday.

I would just like to add here that my body temperature while using Dutasteride was 95 F

If 5 AR inhibitors can lower body temperature like that then all sorts of things could of gone wrong. We would be especially vulnerable to infections; parasites, prostatitis, candida.

I haven’t done an actual test yet but I’m 99.9% sure I now have hypothyroidism…
No one in my family has ever had any thyroid problems, is it possible that my current thyroid problems are caused by Propecia??

i have attached a thyroid function test from when i was 16 before i took propecia. I wonder if it is worth it too get it checked now and compare the two.

After 3 and a half years off finasterid I developed hypothyroidism:
I made a normal bloodtest at my general practitioner :

TSH: 4,30 range: 0,3-4,20 (serum)

now taking 25mg levo thyrox(in)

in about 2 months there will be a full penal tpo /trak test .

I was in the drugstore and they didn’t have the brand on the recipe of levothyrox . then she said whether I would mind to take
the stuff from merck and I said , no I’d like to order the brand which is on my recipe ,because Merck is a part of the problem why I have to take this stuff !

Quitted Finasteride 1/1/2012 (after 5 yrs), was feeling awful for 2.5 months, so got blood results. Don’t know why some are quoted in listed measurement types, but here they are:

TSH — 3.280 uIU/mL (0.450-4.500) - was told by doctor that anything over 3.0 still signals hypothyroidism
Free Thyroxine — 1.34 ng/dL (0.82-1.77)
reverse T3 — 21.7 (13.5-34.2)
Vitamin D — 34.2 ng/mL (30.0-100.0)
T3 — <20 ng/dL (83-200)

The unit of measurement for my T3 seems different than many other people who posted here (nd/dL), but my doctor told me she’d never seen a T3 so low ever in her 15 years. Less than 20, when it should be between 83-200, was enough for her to tell me to start taking Thyroid Armor immediately. Is anyone on Synthroid instead? Pros/cons?

AND, my last and maybe most important question…I am having a more complete blood work-up soon, but what other measurements should I ask for? I’ve seen mention of cortisol saliva, 3-adiol G test, ANA, ESR…any of these 4 a must?

THANK YOU.

JN, please contact me. I added you as a friend. I read through your whole 50 page recovery thread. It was astonishing. I am desperate to talk to you as I am also suffering from this issue. Please get back to me if you see this. Thanks.
