Post finasteride syndrome and adrenal fatigue

mci, here is a good overview of the autonomic nervous system.

dantest.com/dtr_ans_overview.htm

It’s funny because even stuff like lower leg hair loss is implicated with dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. We definitely have autonomic problems (as evidenced by people benefiting from alpha blockers), but it’s impossible to know what is causing it.

I wonder how important the gabaergic system (or androgens and estrogens) is in controlling sympathetic impulses. My leg twitching, for example, could be caused by wildly firing motor nerves. I wonder if the autonomic problems have the same cause.

And one more autonomic disease which ticks quite a few of the same boxes as pfs sufferers…

Symptoms of autonomic small fiber neuropathy include abnormal sweating or temperature regulation, lightheadedness or fainting when standing up from hypotension or tachycardia, gastroparesis with bloating and constipation or diarrhea, incomplete bladder emptying or difficulty initiating a stream, sexual dysfunction from hypo or hypersensitivity, dryness and thinning of the skin, hair loss in the legs, and ridged or brittle nails (Low et al, 2003; Freeman 2007; Waldinger et al, 2009).

Yeah, autonomic dysfunction and even small fiber neuropathy both fit in my opinion. The question is, why would propecia cause these issues?

Metabolic dysfunction has a wide effect on neurological disorders

I am now diagnosed with autonomic dysfunction.

Hi there sonder

Can I ask how you were diagnosed with autonomic dysfunction and what symptoms do you have re: this diagnosis?

Also, has any viable treatment been proposed?

Thanks.

Hi Scotsman

I had a Tilt-table test , a Breathing test (Valsalva Maneuver) .

Autonomic Dysfuncition is a broad term that describes any disease orr malfunction of the autonomic nervous system.
This includes Postural Tachycardia Syndrome ( POTS ) AS I HAVE.

Symptoms i have:
Low ACTH Very low and problem with cortisol
Sleep disorder
Headache ( pressure in forhead )

( Improved could be time? )

High pulls ( It has improved )
Tremor in forhead
Fatique ( It has improved )
Abdominal discomfort
Exercise intolerance ( It has improved )
Nausea
Erectile Dysfunction ( It has improved ) Time and cialis

ALL MY HORMONES IS VERY UNSTABLE ( I think POTS is the cause )

this is VERY variable condition from person to person age to age. but there is an adrenal / thyroid connection… i still have lower back pain its 3.5 year. my kidney is perfect but i have some sore on it i can feel.

People just notice Brain Penis disconnect… I am sure this has happened to more then just your dick. The brain isn’t signaling the adrenals, thyroid, testicles ect… properly. So we get a really messed up and variable condition.

I read that something like 80% of nerve impulses within the brain are controlled by GABA and glutamate. So yeah… dysfunction with that will likely mess up everything.

Thanks Mew , I think many fellow sufferers just can’t imagine how it’s like to see a recycling of old ideas . It’s like in the movie “groundhog Day” without science we are circling around with non but zero gains .

You are the FOURTH person on this site to be diagnosed with autonomic dysfunction.

Effects of autonomic dysfunction can include just a small part of the ANS, or the entire ANS. Some symptoms that may indicate the presence of an autonomic nerve disorder include:

dizziness and fainting upon standing up (orthostatic hypotension)

inability to alter heart rate with exercise (exercise intolerance)

sweating abnormalities, which could alternately be too much sweat or insufficient sweat

digestion difficulties due to slow digestion. Resulting symptoms could include loss of appetite, bloating, diarrhea or constipation, and difficulty swallowing.

urinary problems. These can include difficulty starting urination, incontinence, and incomplete emptying of the bladder

sexual problems. In men, this could be difficulty with ejaculation and/or maintaining an erection. In women, this could be vaginal dryness and/or difficulty with orgasm
vision problems. This could be blurry vision, or the failure of the pupils to react quickly enough to changes in light.

Any or all of these symptoms may be present, and effects may be mild to severe.

Very intetesting that we have 4 members who have been dignosed with this. It may just be because their doctors “did not what else to diganose them with” or who knows maybe they are dead on.

Ohh wait I forgot we are theorizing again. People may get mad.
Sorry guys

Saliva test came back… Borderline Adrenal insufficiency. But I guess I am just a “home brew” guy not someone that is literally almost dead from a few days pro-Fucking-pecia.

What does that mean? I feel like I have a lot of symptoms you have and would like to find out how to get better. How did you get your doctor to agree to give you a saliva test?

How did you deal with your loose teeth? Have any actually fallen out? My teeth are getting pretty wiggly as well.

Hi there

So far nothing - None have fallen out, just that there is more movement in them than there should be for my age. X-ray has revealed some bone loss indicative of teeth grinding which I don’t do and there is no evidence of either. I mentioned it to my Doctor when I last saw her but she hasn’t pursued it. I’m always reluctant to mention a symptom which I believe is related to propecia use, although she knows how much it has impacted me. I’m wondering with my thin skin whether I have osteoporosis. I’ll discuss it again when I next see my dentist as to any preventative action like calcium supplements. Bizarrely, with everything else that has happened, loose teeth doesn’t seem so bad.

The teeth that are most affected are in my upper jaw.

How did this go for the OP?

I am suspecting Adrenal Fatigue for a long time. After reading through Adrenal Fatigue symptoms and books, they are just too similar to ours.

After years and years of horrible mental symptoms (even worse than PFS), I took DHEA and Pregnenolone in early December 2019. Two hormones wich got produced in the adrenals. Within a week or two I was a new human. Anxiety was gone. I had a personality. I had confidence. I had joy in life. I felt like a men.

I was off them for 3 months because I was (and still am) on HCG Protocol. These 3 months were pure nightmare. I lost my personality again. So much anxiety. Very bad mental issues. Now I started DHEA again about a week ago. And things start to shift again.

I also tried Prednol for couple days but was too afraid to continue. I ordered Adrenal Cortex but unfortunately the Turkish customs seized it.

Any benefits seen from HCG?
