Hi,
Please help me decide if something is wrong with my prostate? Please bear with me: A few yeears ago I was on Propecia at various doses and times trying to attempt to beat sides. While doing so I would have a mild pain at the top of my thigh (right side). I went off the driug for some time then tried it again in conjunction with minoxidil. All of a sudden the leg pain came back really bad and pains were shooting from the top of my thigh all the way down to my ankle. (I think the combo did it) My body was aching all over and I felt like something was seriously wrong with me. I tried to “shrug” it off and go about my business but it just got worse w/ the shooting pains. Eventually I went to a sports med Dr. and he said I had weak hip flexer muscles and needed physical therapy. Well, of course they will be weak if I don’t use them much due to pain! So, I never went to physical therapy and decided to start doing my own therapy. My leg seemed to get stronger so I thought the pains would subside with it. I am to the point where I can jog a mile once per week but the following days I get the leg pain shooting down from the top of thigh area! Here’s where the prostate comes in: I had all the propecia sides of small testicles and so on and they have for the most part recovered…but if I try and orgasm more than twice per week my prostate hurts like hell. I will get bad pains when I ejaculate and even during the night I will wake up with really bad pain between my penis and anus but obvviousluy a little deeper. This happens even a few days AFTER I try and orgasm morre than twice! My blood tests from 1.5 years ago said I had elevated out of range calcium along with other out of range areas. I read that elevated calcium is a sign of prostate cancer. Putting this all together, should I be concerned and what should I do? I am so damn tirred of these leg pains and can’t have sexual activity more than twice per week due to the prostate acting up. It has been one year since last Propecia dose and I am 33. Please know I feel sorry for you guys that can’t even get an erection… What should I do? Thanks, I really appreciate it!
pain between the anus and testies is a symptom of prostatitis.
But is it linked to my leg/thigh pain? I am nervous about cancer. I had high calcium levels and low Parathyroid. This is a syptom of bone cancer or myeloma. This may explain the leg discomfort?? Anyone help?
see a doctor asap and dont tell them about fin unless they ask
It sounds more like you are suffering from sciatica then from a prostate problem. Look it up…
And it sounds like you are still on it, based on the following…
Not according to this.

What are you doing here if you are still taking the medication? Get off and stay off it, and you will likely find your issues resolve. Muscle myopathy has been a listed side effect, as well as hyperCKemia.

NO, I AM NOT STILL ON FINASTERIDE. My last dose was July, 2009. SO YOUR TELLING ME HYPERCALCEMIA IS A SIDE OF FINASTERIDE? I did not see that anywhere on the net.
Well, based on the timestamp of your post, it sounds like you want to get back on it.
Here is what you said on Monday July 5, 2010:

Care to explain?
Not hypercalcemia, hyperCKemia – ie, elevated Creatine Kinase levels.
Sure Mew.
As said, I am not currently on Finasteride and my last dose was July, 2009. Yes, I did suffer many terrible sides, I admit, and my sexual function is at about 90% of what it originally was. I do get prostasitis, PE, and the feeling of orgasm doesn’t tregister in the brain as well as it used to. Now, I am human, I make mistakes just like everyone else on here. Lately I was feeling down and depressed about my lack of dating life, my hair falling fast, my PS (I was born w/out my pec major muscle one one side and rib deformity), have a big nose, and large elf like ears. I spoke to a family member of mine who at one time was balding but now has a nice head of hair. I asked him aboout it and one of the things he does is take Propecia and says he doesn’t know of any sides so far as he has been taking for a few years. So, hearing this and really wanting my looks to improve so I can possibly settle down like all my friends, I was considering trying Finasteride again. Before I took a dose, I went back into my bloodwork paperwork and reviewed them. I immediately started remembering how shitty life was when on it so I never ended up taking another dose. Forgive me, for I am human. There are plenty of people on this site that have done the same exact thing except they did end up trying it again resulting in more physical setbacks. I don’t really have anyone to talk to about my occasional depression, and I get tempted to try to fix it (meaning improving my level of attraction). I refuse to take any anti depressents as that is usually a short term remedy. Question for you? Are we on here to help eachother and offer support, and answer questions…or are we here to play detective? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked what I think is an important question either out for everyone to see or via a pm…yet often no one responds. Are we here to help ourselves or help others as well? We can’t be selfish.
tim - one reason people might not respond is because you have 90 percent of your sexual function - people on here would kill for that. i know it is not a competition to see whose side effects are worse, but if your at 90 percent then really your not badly affected.
if you have some minor prostatitis, go to the doctor or try some antibiotics, if it occurred years after propecia use, then it could be coincidental.
No, the prostasitis occurred during Propecia use and never quite left. I went to a Urologist, who happened to be old and closed minded, and he said I should take warm baths and slow down on drinking even though I told him I only drink a couple days a week in moderation. I noticed if I orgasm more than twice per week then the prostasitis acts up big time.
okay
but still, the answer is still infront of you. if you have prostatitis, and this is what is causing your issues, go to a DIFFERENT doctor then your first doctor for your prostate issues. There is one doctor in LA and one in NYC that can do direct-to-prostate antibiotic injections, which are apparently the most effective, if so inclined.

Thanks for the info:) I am happy to have people on here that look out for eachother!!
