One of the admins of the biggest online hair forum recently posted a topic about whether PFS is real. Surprisingly, the reaction has been very encouraging. I’m Chrisis by the way:
Interesting and coherent debate.
Indeed, I was surprised. Only a few years ago similar forums were in complete denial. The tide is turning.
Yes. These forums have a big influence and that can be very negative. For instance most hairlosstalk forum senior members and moderators don’t think PFS exists and attack or even laugh at any post which blame finasteride for persistent sides, making lots of readers believe finasteride is safe for everyone and sides sufferers are all hypocondriac.
Not only that, they give advices as if they were doctors which many people follow. I am tired of reading the typical "if you are experimenting sides, keep taking it, they will go away as your body adapts to the drug. Give it 1 year time to see results and to see if the sides continue ".
We know most hairloss patients and dermatologists recommend finasteride as a safe treatment to take for years since the age of 18. But my experience and reality is that any other diligent doctor thinks it is crazy for a young man to take this medication for years.
It is a sad situation the big propaganda it still has. And it is nice to see topics talking coherently about its real possible dangerousness.
Excellent news. David’s post is very well done. Happy to see him list the full complement of side effects.
At this point with all thats out there, anyone denying it is either incredibly ignorant, or purposely denying it for the benefit of Merck.
Well said, my friend. Well said.
I personally look forward to the full, horrifying finasteride story coming out in the press, complete with analogies to the Vioxx scandal, and the general public getting up in arms about Merck being up to its old trick once again.
And where will Kenneth C. Frazier be then? He turns 61 this year, which means just 4 short years until retirement.
It dawned on me recently that his whole strategy here is to make it to 65, cash in on his full package, then walk away free and clear – all before the real finasteride outrage hits the fan.
Pretty smart, eh?
Well, that will NOT happen if justice has any place in this world (and it does). What will happen, I hope, is that he’s called before a congressional committee to explain why he – knowing the many dangers of finasteride for many years – continued to put men the world over at risk.
And if (when) that happens, I will be front and center cheering my nat’l black ass off. I will be the happiest mofo on the planet. And I will visit him in prison daily – just to be sure that he REMAINS in prison.
