I have been on here numerous times over the past 2.5 months since I quit and I figured I would just post a little info on here that helped me through this mess.
I have been getting better over the last month and although it is far too soon to tell I am thinking that I may actually be making a natural recovery. My libido and random erections have returned after 2.5 months off of finasteride.
I am no expert so feel free to ignore my advice but the following 3 supplements provided me with the most benefit:
Vitamin D: I took about 2000-4000 IU of vitamin D daily for most of the past 2 months since quitting, only in the past few weeks have I lowered my dose to 1000 IU/day. While this did not help with physical or sexual sides at all, it did help me when I was feeling the most depressed and brain fogged. I admit that I never had severe brain fog but I did have a little bit and the vitamin D always cleared me up. Depression hit me hard and the vitamin D definitely had a major positive impact in this regard so I recommend it to anyone experiencing mental sides like depression or brain fog.
Fish oil with 100mg cQ10: About a month back I started taking a fish oil capsule (triple strength=1000mg- I think it was mg but not sure, either way it was 1000 units of Fish oil and 100 units of Co enzyme q10). What I noticed was that my erections became stronger from this (albeit slowly). But I have made consistent improvements since starting this supplement, to the point where now I don’t even take it every day and I am maintaining my erection strength.
DIM from source naturals (120mg): About two weeks back I started taking DIM from source naturals 120mg per day (1 capsule). Since taking this the pains in my testicles/pelvic area stopped and I believe my semen has started to even out in consistency (used to be either clumpy or watery, but never a regular consistency). Also, I have noticed that I have been producing more semen, still less than pre fin, but it has gone from 20% regular volume to about 40-50% volume in a few weeks since DIM. I am not sure if this is a result of time or the supplements but it seems an odd coincidence that it started improving since I started taking DIM so I thought i’d share.
My libido is still lowered than pre fin days but I would say over the past few days this too has been recovering drastically, so not sure if this is from the fish oil, vitamin d, coq10, DIM or just time. I also notice that lately I masturbate or have sex a few times a day. Before I would be able to release once per day maybe 2 times tops, and by the second time I would be lucky to get a drop if anything in terms of semen volume. Today I was able to have sex 2 times and masturbate once (all because I was horny!) and while less semen came out than it used to pre fin, some did come out each time which is a huge improvement.
Anyways this wasn’t to brag or make anyone feel bad, maybe I would’ve recovered naturally at the 2.5 month mark, but I figured these supplements have helped me so I wanted to share. Also, I know this may be premature and maybe I will crash again but I have noticed steady improvements over the past month since taking these supplements, and vitamin d has been with me from the beginning and it always seemed to help.
