Persistent Insomnia

I’m 4 years in and my most persistent symptom
Is still insomnia. Has anyone found anything that works and is safe? I’ve tried magnesium glycinate which worked for a while until it didn’t . I’m now using magnesium threonate and it’s working okay. Was considering a prescription medication. I’ve also tried Ambien and it gets me 4-6 hours. Any comments/recommendations appreciated.

I’ve had to change environment in the bedroom. No TV, no reading in bed, no stimulus, completely dark room. I’ve also cut eating late and all sugar out of my life. Coffee in AM only. By making my bedroom only for sleeping, it has made it easier for me to fall asleep. I can get up to 6 hrs sleep at a time. I stopped Ambien about 3 years ago. Hope any of this helps.

How long did it take for you after you stopped finasteride to regain your sleep? I’ve been working or trying to have a consistent sleep schedule and stop stimulus/screens 30-60 min before bed.

I settled in to a routine after about 3 months post Finesteride. I never have fully gained my sleep back . I used to be able to sleep 8 hours, now 4-6, but that’s good. What really helped me was “white noise” keeping a fan going by my bed to drown out ears ringing or any other sound. I still use a fan to sleep.
