periferic resistence hypogonadism

lot of affinities with PFS, maybe we can call it iatrogen periferic resistence hypogonadism.
I have not find lot of info on web.

here anyone had qualitative and quantitative androgen receptor evaluation?
this is best test for dyagnose periferic resistence hypogonadism

Do you mean something like this?:

Yes, I believe a few guys had a test done that measures the capabilities of their androgen receptors to bind androgens and the tests came back normal for all of them. I don’t think anyone here has had a quantitative test performed, but I could be wrong.

Can you provide a link to more information regarding perific resistance hypogonadism? I couldn’t find anything about it.

as i said i found few info in italian
books.google.it/books?id=PycX8BxTBnkC&pg=PA97&lpg=PA97&dq=resistenza+periferica+ipogonadismo&source=bl&ots=l2iOX5wgXf&sig=Jl64N3vckQl9Yw8tJ0E66OtGau0&hl=it&ei=emA0Ts2jAYKXOoXf_foL&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CB8Q6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=resistenza%20periferica%20ipogonadismo&f=false

look at this summary p16 and 18 (unfortunately is in italian)

med.unipg.it/ccl/Materiale%20Didattico/Endocrinologia%20e%20Malattie%20del%20Metabolismo%20-%20canale%20A/Ipogonadismo%20maschile.pdf

in secondary hypo
u can see 3 kind perific resistance hypogonadism
-Complete (S. di Morris)
-Incomplete (S di Reifenstein)
-Deficit 5ar

i’m not deep in these things but i saw some interesting “new” tests among the common tests here (p 97 first link)

Thanks prop. Wish I could read Italian though .

The question of whether or not we have some acquired form of androgen insensitivity has been discussed many times on this board in the past. (Do a search for “androgen insensitivity” in topic titles only and you will find about 11 threads devoted to this subject. Its pretty damn good reading if you have the time to spare.

The 3 forms of androgen insensitivity you mentioned are normally caused by genetic disorders and the members that have been checked for androgen insensitivity have all tested negative for mutations in the gene that encodes the androgen receptor. I’m not positive that anyone was tested for the 5ar deficient form of androgen insensitivity, but I am pretty sure it was assumed that this isn’t the cause of PFS since many guys have good levels of DHT in spite of having some bad symptoms. BTW: Finasteride was developed to mimic the 5-ar deficient form of pseudohermaphroditism.

The idea that I might have some type of androgen insensitivity has been haunting me since 2003 when an endocrinologist ran a slew of hormonal tests for me and they all came back well within normal ranges. When I begged her for an answer, she suggested androgen insensitivity syndrome but told me that would be impossible because it is something you must be born with, you can’t develop AIS during adulthood.
