Penile implant - weighing up the pros and cons

Hi, I have been living with the symptoms of post accutane syndrome (namely non existent libido and ED) for about 4 years. As a 25 year old, I am trying to address the situation as best I can. I am considering a penile implant and was wondering if anyone here had gone down that route? I know it’s not a cure but it seems a potentially practical solution for a young guy trying to move on with life as best as possible. I know it won’t impact the libido aspect but patient satisfaction rates seem quite high. Interested in those experiencing PFS views on this also.

Hi man, sorry to hear about your issues. A previous member posted this forum - http://www.penileimplant.blogspot.com/.

It’s effectively a document of other people’s experiences. As you say, patient satisfaction seems to be high.

Would you also mind completing our survey? It’s essential data that we need in order to garner the interest of scientists in regards to studying our condition. You don’t have to do it all at once; it’ll save your progress if you want to do it in stages. We very much need more isotretinoin numbers so it’d be a huge help to everyone if you could give us a hand man.

Nothing wrong with it if it will make you feel better. They do them very well these days I hear.

Have you tried using a topical DHT formulation to help with erections? I mean, I realize the answer is most likely no, but if you are going to do such drastic things such as an implant, then maybe try everything else first.

Yes I am going to complete the survey this weekend as the week is a little busy for me and it seems like it may take a while. I haven’t heard of DHT topical creams ?

Thanks man. It’ll take you 40-50 minutes, but as previously mentioned you can do it stages as it will save your progress. :+1:

most definitely not a solution for a 25 year old. It’s irreversible and needs to be replaced every 5 years

i know its hard to take but this does for most people get better over time. There is a strong chance that you will improve to a point where cialis works fine for you. For me nothing worked in the first year but now 4 years on they always work

Thanks for your reply, I see the reasoning behind your point for sure. However, most of my research into PAS points towards little chance of symptoms negating over time, hence why I am thinking that this may be a good middle ground to continue with my life as best as possible. What worries me more is the complete lack of libido rather than the ED itself. My view is that an implant could be a good way of being able to engage in a relationship without having to worry about these issues every day. I was also on a low maintenance dose of accutane for many years so would imagine my issues may be at the more persistent end of the scope.

Just wondering if the cialis worked for you after drinking alcohol? It works fine for me up to 4 drinks but flat as a pancake if I go more than that…

hit and miss, certainly not as effective

i think thats case for most ppl…even non pfs

Hi @Accutane2020,

We could use a little help from Accutane users with the survey. Please find some time to take it!

Thank you

I get erections fine but still don’t want to have sex because of poor libido and numbness. In my view, an erection is of limited utility when your mind, heart, etc aren’t into the sex. Girls quickly lose interest when they realize you’re just going through the motions. Just a caution that erections alone are not the solution to some. If an implant would give all 3 things of interest, sensation, and erection back then you could sign me up. But given that they don’t I’d be more inclined to work toward a cure. Especially if I were only your age.
