PBS on Propecia: "Patients have suffered horribly"...

KPBS Radio reports today:

“Imagine taking a drug to cure a nagging condition, only to discover that it has debilitating side effects. A growing number of men say that’s the case with the hair loss drug Propecia. Many patients complain Propecia causes depression and a total loss of sexual function. And it’s not unusual for these problems to continue even after men stop taking the drug.”

Also that:

"The maker of Propecia, Merck, refused to be interviewed for this story. In a written statement, the company said it stands behind Propecia and that millions of men have taken it since it first came on the market in 1997. "

Good interviews there from the first guy and even from Goldstein at last. Is this going out on radio, and is it limited to just one area?

Good to see the PBS TV affiliate pick up this horror story as well.

The truth is out: Propecia is dangerous with a capital “D.”

Merck didn’t say “no causal relationship” this time. Maybe they’ve been following Twitter: twitter.com/RecallPropecia/stat … 3785641985

You might have a point there, SA.

I mean, they’ve gone on the record so many times with these denials, insisting that Propecia is 100% safe – and thereby insinuating that thousands of their very own customers around the globe are fabricating stories of impotence, cognitive dysfunction and a host of other horrors – that they seem to be digging themselves a huge hole.

For what will be their response when medical science proves – at the molecular level – that finasteride does indeed cause the said permanent side effects, and then some?

Will they say, “Well, what does medical science know?”?

Will they say, “Oops! Our bad.”?

Whatever it is that they’ll say, they’d better ready it soon.

Because medical science will contradict their flimsy rhetoric.

The air time was limited to 4.5 minutes. Only about 10% of my interview was used in the clip. I requested a copy of the remaining footage to show on Youtube but the station policy wouldn’t allow it.

Please, if you live in the US, find and contact your local PBS station (public broadcasting station) and find out who their “Health” reporter is. Show them this video and request your local station to do the same, along with your treating physician.

Propecia is a public health risk and the damage is far reaching into society, more than anyone could imagine.[/size]

(Ruined sex life, Ruined career/job, Lost girlfriend/wife, damaged relationships and Lost Wages which would otherwise be taxable <-- loss of tax revenue should get the attention of the Federal, State and Local governments) For example; I was making 6 figures+, haven’t been able to work in 3 years. Lost taxes are in the hundreds of thousands. They may not care about ‘me’ as a human being, but they sure as hell care about their tax revenue!

Thank you for that, towm8er.

Even if it stops one guy from taking it, think of it as a potential new member here being spared.

Excellent point about the lost wages. Ditto contacting local PBS affiliates.

No man should ever take finasteride for hair loss.

I emailed this video to the hair loss clinic that put me on fin I have heard nothing back from them, I think their silence speaks volumes.

Yes, everyone should email this link to their doctors.

Do it asap!
