Partial recovery

I was taking propecia for about 6 months and I really didn’t notice sexual side effects because they came on fairly slowly. It wasn’t until about 5 months into the treatment that I finally realized that I was not interested in sex and could not get aroused. At that point, I remembered my doctor mentioning “rare” sexual side effects, and that sparked my curiousity so I decided to take a look around online and came across this site. After reading many horror stories I completely stopped taking the medication and still felt awful.

I have been noticing excessive weight gain in addition to the sexual side effects, and although I am a first year university student, I do not think gaining 25-30 pounds in less than 4 months is healthy. Ever since I stopped taking propecia I drastically changed my diet (salads, soups, very little fatty foods/carbs) but I still remain far too overweight. Recently, however, the sexual side effects have begun to disappear. Morning erections are happening every day now, and I can’t believe that it took me this long to realize the change.

I’ve been off of propecia for about 2 months now and I am so thankful that my body has recovered somewhat. Recently, I have been noticing extreme fatigue in the mornings even after 8-10+ hours of sleep. This is one thing that is not like me at all as I used to only sleep about 6 hours per night and wake up to workout before starting my day.

All I can say is hold in there and hope, I am going to continue watching my food intake and hope that I can get rid of this excess weight.

Take care and goodluck to all of you!

Glad you recovered. So it took you a full two months before you began to have morning erections again? how did it effect your sex drive?

My sex drive was significantly lower during the treatment and for about three-five weeks afterwards. It slowly began to come back, and at times it seemed to be returning in cycles with ups and downs.

The change from low to high sex drive was VERY noticable once six-seven weeks came around, especially compared to the gradual decrease in libido I experienced from the medication. Honestly one day I had no morning erection and the next day I did. That same day I could tell I was more interested in sex overall.

i had mine back after a month or so. however, there are also other side effects affecting you at the same time which make your mood goes up and down. if your mood is not stable, it’s hard to perform.
