I was taking propecia for about 6 months and I really didn’t notice sexual side effects because they came on fairly slowly. It wasn’t until about 5 months into the treatment that I finally realized that I was not interested in sex and could not get aroused. At that point, I remembered my doctor mentioning “rare” sexual side effects, and that sparked my curiousity so I decided to take a look around online and came across this site. After reading many horror stories I completely stopped taking the medication and still felt awful.
I have been noticing excessive weight gain in addition to the sexual side effects, and although I am a first year university student, I do not think gaining 25-30 pounds in less than 4 months is healthy. Ever since I stopped taking propecia I drastically changed my diet (salads, soups, very little fatty foods/carbs) but I still remain far too overweight. Recently, however, the sexual side effects have begun to disappear. Morning erections are happening every day now, and I can’t believe that it took me this long to realize the change.
I’ve been off of propecia for about 2 months now and I am so thankful that my body has recovered somewhat. Recently, I have been noticing extreme fatigue in the mornings even after 8-10+ hours of sleep. This is one thing that is not like me at all as I used to only sleep about 6 hours per night and wake up to workout before starting my day.
All I can say is hold in there and hope, I am going to continue watching my food intake and hope that I can get rid of this excess weight.
Take care and goodluck to all of you!
-Michael
