Palpitation at night

I get them right after i lay down in bed but only after 8pm and not after 4 am.They are usualy starting at 12.I had them initialy and I had them in few episodes even at 9 month after quiting. They seem related to stress. My heart rate seems to go a little faster 80-90 from the usual 60-70.

I dont have them every night , only very rarely but still annoying

I never had them before this.My BP now is in normal range below 140/90(usualy 130/80).I did a EKG during the day and it was normal

I did electrolitic blood test and they came out normal, my oxygen level during the day was normal.

But when they added a 24 holter during one episode of palpitation they found some premature ventricular contractions of unkown cause during the night. They said is no big deal and I should avoid coffeine.I will try to investigate further.

I dont get them during the day even if I lay down or I train hard

I get those as well…I think it has something to do with laying down. I am scheduled to get an echo and chest x-ray as well as blood test.

John, have you quit the drug?

I am about to as soon as I get my blood tests. Why do you ask? What is the best way to wean off?

I ask because quitting may resolve your problems.

But bloodwork before quitting is a good thing to do, especially if you have bloodwork before starting the medication to compare against.

No need to ween off, it’s basically impossible to ween since drug is so powerful it inhibits nearly 65% of DHT even at doses as small as 0.05mg:

If you actually wanted to try weening it would be better to space out days you were taking it, every 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th day until done… my guess.

Thanks alot, I appreciate your advice. I am gonna just start taking it every other day and gradually stop. How come inhibiting 65% DHT doesn’t effect the majority?

If we knew the answer to that question none of us would be here. Why are we the ones experiencing permanent side effects? Nobody knows.

Hence the Theories section of this website. Perhaps we have a genetic susceptibility in common that makes us more sensitive to DHT inhibition or the pharmacogenetics of Finasteride.

I discussed with my physician and my blood electrolits were fine.I will do some other investigations but he told me it seems sometimes I get bursts of adrenaline in my blood before bed.So high adrenaline may explain the episodes of palpitations, high blood pressure, anxiety, tremor and sensitive eyes to light. Also may explain the fact that when I had palpitations and moved around they seemed to disapear because the adrenaline was burned by muscle activity.
The doctor said if my palpitations persists he will prescribe me small doses of beta blockers that I will administer them when I need it.
p.s.Adrenaline is also secreted by adrenal glands along with cortisol, and steroid hormons(testosterone).

Anybody else had high adrenaline in their blood?

The sensation of jumping with a parashute before going to sleep is no fun.

I just posted about this topic in another section. Sometimes around beditme, I get so amped up that I feel like I have to do wind sprints or some other kind of exercise to calm me down. NOTHING puts me out. Maybe it is adrenaline! That would make sense. I think I will actually start exercising at night and see if this relieves the feeling.
