Palmettohexed update: 3 temporary full recoveries over past 6 weeks, BDNF/liver protocol, Zinc increases dht

Just an update on my saw palmetto induced PFS. I have been tempted to post a full recovery on this site. I’ve had three full but temporary recoveries lasting from 4 to 7 days each over the last 6 weeks. We are talking sexual, mental, and sleep recovery. However, I never did because I know how PFS is full of improvements and then regressions.

One thing I did was I restarted Zinc. Zinc was a supplement I took regularly before my PFS. I actually started taking it to help preserve my thymus. After my crash I stopped it because the common consensus on this site is that it’s a 5ari. However, I found a study that showed zinc increased dht regardless if testosterone was increased or not (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7271365). I started taking Jarrow’s zinc, 15 mg zinc with 1 mg copper I believe. For seven days after that I had incredible nocturnal and morning wood. The results have faded, unfortunately.

As far as my BDNF/liver protocol, that involved coffee fruit extract, kale and arugula, calcium g glucarate (CDG), and decaf coffee. This gave me another full but short lived recovery. I think it’s a common consensus that estrogen skyrockets as a consequence of 5ari. Now my labs never showed high estrogen but my shbg was high. My theory was that estrogen was causing my high shbg and that when I lowered my shbg the estrogen would become unbound and cause havoc. My theory was that I had a lot of bound up estrogen and that my body couldn’t handle detoxifying all that estrogen so the estrogen would just end up becoming bound again.

This is where the CDG, kale, and arugula come in. All are good for the liver and all help to flush out estrogen. After 2 days of this, I had a complete recovery for about 4 days. I will mention that CDG was another supplement I took routinely for detox purposes. I’n addition, arugula is the top source of nitrates which is good for erections. Decaf coffee also helps clean the liver. Notice I use decaf because caffeine will raise shbg and cortisol.

As far as coffee fruit extract, it increases BDNF which helps heal the brain. I did feel like I got some improvements from it. I used the Hana Naia brand. I also eat tons of blueberries and drink green tea routinely. Also, L-theanine has helped at times.

I will have labs done soon. Probably this week just to see where my levels are. I know hormone levels with PFS don’t mean a lot but my free test has increased with every lab and that makes me feel good.

The mental recoveries have been the best, honestly. The ability to feel happy and like an alpha male again. Not since my crash has that happened. Also, I was able to take naps during those recoveries. First time in about 1.5 years that I have been able to nap.

Could you have some sort of gut dysbiosis or has your stool remained unchanged? I had sibo which seems to really mess with how your body removes waste including estrogen and fixing an underlying cause like this i consider half of my recovery.
