Painful teeth and gum recession

Hi guys,

Noticed quite a few discussions on this. I had unsuccessful gum grafts and teeth lengthening surgery last year. My gum recession and sensitivity continues to progress. Was wondering if anyone has had any success in tackling this.

Cheers

Never heard of this. This should be unrelated to PFS, idk.

It’s def PFS related, I’ve heard of all types of issues with the mouth and face, probably explains why my chin has shrunk

Yes, this onset badly during my crash, alongside pain in my bones. In general I’d say it has settled down a bit, but comes back quite often and has been bothering me lately. I sometimes can get a little relief from using a toothpaste called sensodyne, and by cleaning them much more frequently.

Tonight another molar broke. This my fourth tooth that has broken/chipped/cracked in the year since I started Proscar. I’m nervous to eat anything hard anymore!

That’s insane I thought losing the gum tissue was where it stopped mouth wise.

Same. My teeth hurt and my mouth is always dry. I had to have a couple teeth replaced and they are very sensitive. Seems there is nothing this condition can’t touch.

Its just awful. Still find it hard to comprehend that this is going on

Been to dental hospital to see my specialist again. He confirmed the recession is continuing lost another 2mm in the last 6 months he also confirm the roof of my mouth has lost density and that my gum tissue is thinning. Basically after 3 plus years of mouth problems there is no sign of abatement after all.

Hey there Lazurus

I’m really sorry about what you’re going through. Apologies if what I’m going to ask has been discussed elsewhere. What does your specialist think is the underlying cause of your continued recession? It would be useful if he were able to flag it as yet another issue with finasteride, or even write up a paper. Too many side effects are going under the radar. Wishing you all the best.

Hi, he originally put it down to gum disease but after 3 years recognises it’s not that straight forward. However he is receptive to PFS but as he’s employed by the NHS I doubt he’d stick his head above the parapet. I won’t see him again for another 9 months.
