  1. Anything not listed in the above questions you’d like to share about your experience with Finasteride?

  2. Tell us your story, in your own words, about your Finasteride usage and side effects experienced while on/off the drug.

I will write more later, I used Finasteride for a bit over 10 years, never had any side effects until a year ago when i changed my lifestyle (it can be a contributing factor). I used to be healthy at most part, work out regularly, eat healthy, but then I had a fight in a bar that wasn’t my fault, I’m a peaceful guy, 15 stitches on my forehead and had to undergo physiotherapy for 6 months, I couldn’t heavy lift anymore, a few months after my ex broke-up, so i stopped working out, lost a lot of muscle, got a bit down, sad, started an unhealthy diet with trahs food, frozen food, no fruits or vegetables ever, really crappy, i think all that contributed so i don’t think it’s all the drug.

Finasteride is bad but my friend takes for over 15 years, he is 35 (i’m 30), he never had side effects and he’s very healthy, never took any recreational drugs, doesn’t drink alcohol. I used to be a heavy drinker before the side effects. Not only that, i used to smoke weed, do ecstasy many times, did cocaine a few times, took creatine, maltodextrine, what else i can not even describe, never had the side effects while taking all this drugs with Finasteride, or if i did, it went away i could barely notice.

I think our brain is powerful. It can make you feel bad, and it can cure you. I believe that time and being healthy can cure these side effects i have listed above, that we all do, some people more or less, or different.

Finasteride puts your body in a lot of pressure, i would not recommend to anyone unless this person is really healthy like my friend, then I would recommend. Yes, sorry I would. It helped me until I got unhealthy, with the bad eating habits. Would it have happened even if I was still healthy, maybe, but I strongly believe it would not have happened. Anyhow, I quit.

Actually, this is the second time i quit. My ED started slowly, with another girl I was, but this time I thought it was because she wasn’t that attractive to me, maybe that was the case, when she broke up with me, then bum, i had complete ED. So then, i quit the drug, my hormones levels were considered normal. After a week or 2, my ED problems were solved. I could masturbate and have orgasm easily. Got back on Finasteride, had sex with a friend but couldn’t get hard enough, although i had a few drinks, i came once, thought it was the drink, kept taking Finasteride. After that she went to a clinic and said she had an infection. When I heard that, i felt disgusted cos i had slept with her without condom. She was a friend, I trusted her. After that, my sex drive is completely zero, it’s being a month. Now, don’t know if because of the infection that i might have. (still waiting for results) so many variables, i want to clear things out to make sure what it is.

But again, I don’t think Finasteride is the main problem for all that. It might aggravate or trigger, contribute, but other factors are involved too.

I would like to hear from you if anything changed in your life during the time you suffered from side effects.

I might have had sexual dysfunction in the past, but didn’t realize it as they ran away (if i did have). But today i can say that yes I have it. mainly sexual, that’s my biggest fear. And also fatigue.

I will undergo exams, bloodwork and all that… this is what my friend recommend me to do:

prostate fluid test, we want to know the quantity of white blood cells, pus and lecithin
Chlamydia, Straptococcus and Streptococcus , virus, fungus and numerous bacterias(anaerobic bacteria also)
sometimes test shows up positive for mycroplasma usually Mycroplasma genitalium and Ureaplasma urealyticum trichomonas which is the very important for the diagnosis of prostatitis.
calcium
hormone profile
thyroid exams
liver exams
pituitary exams

maybe even MRI (but i don’t think i ever had the brain fog)

And i’m now eat healthy, will go back to the gym, and I will take these as soon as i talk with my doctor:

Alpha-Lipoic
Pycnogenol
L-Arginine
Vitamin D
Vitamin C
Zinc

got from this site, has anyone seen this? propeciarecovery.byethost17.com/

If you think your “brain” can cure androgen deprivation through belief, then I think you are in for a surprise. You have a lot of scientific research and understanding to do about how this drug operates.

What a ridiculous statement. Do you even understand what this site is about? There is no way to predict who will get side effects from the drug but at the very least it appears likely to be based on an individual’s hormonal profile and possible genetic predisposition. This has nothing to do with “being healthy and able to tolerate the drug”, because the vast majority of men who took Finasteride and suffered severe side effects were fully functional, healthy young men in the prime of their life before they took it – and it made no difference in outcome.

Diet has nothing to do with the effects of 5AR2 inhibition, hormone ablation, neurosteroid inhibition and other effects of the drug. Trying to blame diet for Finasteride side effects is laughable, many of them are listed by the FDA and drug manufacturer right on the label.

Please do some basic research and get a clue about what Finasteride is and does: viewforum.php?f=8

FYI there are many lawsuits now brewing due to the persistent side effects and endocrine system/sexual/mental/physical damage the drug has left men worldwide with. This would be a good start for you to better understand the problem: propeciahelp.com/awareness

Great, you can believe whatever you like. Still doesn’t change the fact the drug is documented to cause the side effects listed, and many others which are being elucidated via additional research.

No. The introduction of an anti-androgen/neurosteroid inhibiting/endocrine disrupting medication (Finasteride) into young men’s previously healthy, fully functional endocrine systems is the only variable at play here.

Just because you did a ton of drugs and are looking for alternative explanations for your situation doesn’t mean the rest of us are in the same boat.

Sorry to come off as an ass but these types of posts serve no purpose other than to inflame others. If you feel Finasteride should be prescribed to young men for hair loss, even though there are no tests to predict who will or will not get side effects, then quite frankly I’m not sure why you’re even here.

Like Mew said much of what you said is just belief with little actual fact behind it. The shape you are in prior or during use of Finasteride has little to no effect on if you get the side effects or not. We have guys on this site who were in phenominal shape before finasteride, how do I know I regularly talk to some of them and have seen pictures of them.

Example: One of my best friends used finasteride for 2 months right before I got my side effects and he smoked pot once or twice a week, rarely exercised, ate fatty unhealthy foods all the time, smoked a pack and half of ciggerettes a day, and binge drank everyweekend. He suffered no side effects at all on and off the drug… he only stopped because when I told him about the hell I went through from it.

I used to exercise 4-6 times a week and ate a very lean diet, lots of chicken, rice and very little carbs and fat, I did go out and drink on the weekends but that was pretty much my only vice… no illegal drugs. I got bad side effects that became absolutely insane when I came off.

Fab, I noticed you just changed your location from Toronto, Canada to Italy, despite listing Canada as your location in the Member Story above. Care to explain?

Hi mew, I understand your answers to my story, and you are right! I agree to all of that!

I’ve been to doctors and all of them tell me that if the side effects persist after being off the drug than it’s not the drug. So I don’t know what else to think about this. I’m in denial.

By the way, my friend who takes it and say he has no side effects complain a lot that he can’t sleep and he is always tired, he takes another thing for sleep that i forgot the name, it’s not slipping pill it’s something else. Anyways, I told him his sleeping issues could be the drug. I don’t have sleep issues like him. I can sleep 8 hours regularly and after gym helped me with tiredness.

I changed to Italy cos now I live in Italy, what’s the difference if I live in Italy, Canada or Japan!

I did some blood tests and it came out normal… I’m going to do more tests, and also a hair analysis
