Observation: erection quality when standing vs sitting/lying on back, morning vs night

Something I’ve noticed, as I’m sure others have since taking and quitting Finasteride:

Obviously ED is still a problem, but I find it easier to obtain an erection when sitting or lying on my back, vs when standing up. As soon as I stand up, the erection is lost within 5-10 seconds.

Anyone else experience this? What could be the reason? Seems likely to me that bloodflow would be the issue, although I’m not sure why standing up makes such a big difference.

On another note, I notice at times I’m able to get erections easier in the morning compared to at night. This I believe has to do with Testosterone levels being higher in the morning.

Also at night ie 8pm onwards, my scrotum and penis often feel cold to the touch, but are warm in the morning and throughout most of the day. Again, I believe this is tied to circadian rythm of Testosterone and thus, nitric oxide production influencing blood flow.

Anyone else notice this pattern? Any thoughts?

Yes, try warm baths, and try treating the suspect organ, if you can get over the fear of at least trying to touch the prostate.

Or if its still a T problem in your eyes, try a short dose of some Androgel, its not gonna kill you man. Why suffer for SO long, in the dark.

Idk, not tryin to be a dick but you just seem like a VERY smart guy, why not do a test. If some TRT cures your problems, then you know its a T or hormone problem for you, and so get on some HRT so your dick doesn’t wither up waiting.

ANyway, peace man.

I know it’s somewhat redundant re-visiting a post 2 yrs old…but I was wondering about this observation…has it sustained this way since time has past - difficulty with erections standing up and @ night - or is there improvement over time. This post get my attention because it is a very accurate description of my situation…standing up erections go away in a hurry!

yeah i get this
i believe it is mental , as when you stand up your mind is usually focused on something else (whatever caused you to stand - eg to get a drink of water etc)

I think it is lack of dht or insensitivity to dht. Happens the same way for me.

I’ve experienced this as well, but I think it’s generally gotten better with time. It used to be that I could absolutely never maintain an erection after standing up… now I sometimes have pretty decent morning erections, for example, that last for a few minutes after waking up.

I mean it’s not mental…I absolutely notice that when I stand up my erection goes away no matter what my focus is…morning erections are essentially gone (perhaps once a week and no where close to full compared to pre-fin when they were full and almost daily) and the only way I can sustain is usually during the day when I’m lying down (opposed to standing).

It’s really getting to me because too be honest I used to be able to have sex numerous times in one day (up to 4 times) and now it’s extremely difficult to even get it up once…something my doctor refuses to attribute to finasteride, I am scheduled to see a urologist but face a battle like everyone else proving my case.

Personally I don’t think it’s a blood flow issue but a lack of dht shutting down N-O production (critical to erections) however I am clearly not an expert and have no science to back it up.

I agree with Sammy7777 about the theory of a lack of DHT cause iwas having the same problem even when i was on the drug ,my penis went soft if my girl didn’ t touch it ,so the only reason at that time was a lack of DHT and,I think it’s thesame of now .

.

Just one last thought on this topic. I was prescribed Viagra by my family doctor - I told him I would try it but it is clearly just a band-aid solution. It helps mechanically and reduces my refractory period (something greatly effected since 4 yrs of propecia use, I used to have sex 2 times in a row with like a 30 second break) but the erections are still floppy hard opposed to full, although it helps sustainability.

If Viagra stimulates blood flow but erections are still not full I think there is more to the picture…on top of the fact that erections and flaccid penis seem less full “choking sensation” and appear narrower due to finasteride…this is more than blood-flow issue

Taking Viagra @ 22 isn’t all that fun but if I have to go through the process to prove to my doctors this isn’t a psychological problem then it’s just another step in the process.

It’s a tough situation man…again I am just providing my thoughts on this…

Mew,
I’m having the same problem… Did you find any possible reason for this…?
Are you still having this issue??

Exactly what I have. I get erections pretty fast lying down, but when I get on top of a woman, I start to lose the erection and the mood. So embarrassing. It’s not always so, but very often.
And yes, I think this wouldn’t happen so often, if sex happened more in the mornings. I’m just not horny in the night.

Hi,

I still have the issue although its not as bad as when I was on/came off drug, and first 2 years off. Still easier to get erection while laying down compared to standing up, and if standing up only get about 50 degree angle upwards compared to 90 degree before Fin… it also doesnt last long while standing up, it’s difficult to maintain.

Probably has to do with bloodflow/tissue changes.

In addition to Mew’s post I notice that if I’ve got an erection and it’s not full in any position, if I then sit down with legs out or cross the legs it becomes fuller and will stay fuller longer. I’ve tried to have sex this way but it doesn’t work well with the condom.

I also have this issue with the erection being better if I am laying down. Mine also goes away immediately when I get up.

I notice that any sexual position other than me laying down and girl on the top tends to make my erections weaker.

I’m not sure if this is a blood flow issue or not. However, I did have an ultrasound done of my testicles and prostate and I was told the blood flow to the area was good. So I believe there is something more to this issue than simply blood flow.

Prolly nothing but have you guys had your bloodpreasure checked from sitting to standing up?

I don’t think it has anything to do with bloodflow changes. It generally is harder to have an erection in that position and the loss of libido just makes it worse for us.

I found this in a site ,

cure-erectile-dysfunction.org/ca … tanding/71

Lacking androgen hormones ((DHEA), Testosterone, DHT, Androstenedione, Androsterone, and Androstenediol), that are needed to supply the lower part of the body when you are in an upright position. Then you suffer erectile dysfunction because there is not enough “fuel” left for any sexual activity. This is a sign of sexual exhaustion.

I have my blood test results for Testosterone and it is in range …may be I need to get my blood test done for androgen hormones ((DHEA), DHT, Androstenedione, Androsterone, and Androstenediol .

Any suggestions…??

Did any one of you guys facing this problem have these test results in the range?

This is a very good way to state my problem. Sexual exhaustion.

We may eventually have to experiment with a SARM S4. If this is indeed all androgenic, this drug acts like Clomid in a sense…where it’s different is it could activate these androgens…
