No sexual sides here/insight into my diet and lifestyle

Hey guys,

This is my first post in the sexual side effects subforum. Usually I post in the mental side effects forum. I took Propecia for 8 weeks last summer and I experienced no sexual side effects whatsoever. Before, during, and after Propecia, I’ve had morning wood all the time and have had no trouble with any ED or libido. Here is what my diet/lifestyle looked like before, during, and after Propecia.

  1. I have always been a huge weight lifter i.e. 6x a week. I run 3x a week but sometimes I don’t reach that 3x a week threshold.
  2. I eat a lot of chicken, soy, and nuts (peanuts, walnuts, pecans) for my primary protein.
  3. My daily supplements include omega 3 fatty acids (fish oil), turmeric, spirulina, green tea, milk thistle, and calcium.
  4. Other parts of the ole’ diet include a lot of bread/grains, I stopped milk right before I started Propecia, and a wide array of fruits and vegetables.
  5. I started eating a whole head of broccoli each day, but I started this in September or October, and I stopped Propecia in late July.
  6. I took creatine and nitric oxide before, but not since 2007.

I just wanted to relay what my diet and lifestyle consisted of before, during, and after I was on Propecia. Whether it helps out or not, the info. is here. Maybe something in my diet/lifestyle prevented me from having sexual side effects or maybe a combination of things. Maybe not.

It’s unlikely that our diets had anything to do with Propecia suppressing our sexual desire and function… endocrinology dictates that. I’d save this info of your’s for the Member Stories section.

The only difference I see is your intense exercise regimen, however I was at the gym >4 days of the week prior to the adverse effects, and no amount of working out restored the genital numbness I experienced at the time.

There are men who can inhibit DHT and get away with it, and others who get a significant sexual dysfunction from this deprivation… consider yourself blessed you didn’t get any of the horrific sexual problems many of us did. Glad to have your input on this, but I don’t believe you can offer the reason for not having this problem without exploring the endo system at a detailed level. Maybe the only distinctly interesting thing your situation tells us is that the brain fog symptom is not likely the source for the sexual dysfunction.
